New-ERA BANK
Greetings everyone.
I've thinked about a banking system for a long time. I've figured it out some ways to enable a bank in EVE. There is only ONE problem, there i cannot make anyone of you to trust me, yet, that this is a profitable way to increase your ISK without doing nothing. I belive that there might be a way to get myself credible, and attract investors, first with decent sums of ISK and maybe in future higher sums of ISK.
Q: How do i know that you are not a thief ?
A: Sincerly i cannot make you trust me at the begining, the only thing i can give is my word (of a future business man).
Q: From what will you get profit to pay us back, and interest ?
A: There are very many ways to increase the ISK you deposit to my bank. I will list only a few now:
- Investing in Outpost's shares.
- T1 items/ships production.
- T2 components production.
- T2 items/ships production.
These are only a few ways that i make official. I have other ways to increase ISK with ISK but i do not expose them.
Q: Which is the interest that your bank is offering for our deposits ?
A: There will be a list of deposit packages down in this thread.
Q: When i can withdraw my money from bank ?
A: You can withdraw your money&interest anytime, but you need to ask for it with 14 days before. I hope that everyone will understand this, because remember that your money are invested and i need little time to get the money to pay you back.
Q: Which is minimum amount of ISK that can be deposited, and the max amount ?
A: The minimum amount of ISK is 10.000.000, and for start the maximum amount of ISK is 200.000.000. I've set a maximum amount of ISK because i do not wish to be unable to pay back your money and interest.
Q: Why don't you have a corp of your own?
A: I will make a corp of my own, but at this time i wish to get a start.
Q: Is there a website or forum ?
A: There is not such, yet, but will be up.
Depending how things will work interests might rise, maximum amount of ISK that can be deposited will raise.

There have been a lot of attempts like this, some have worked better than others. A good example is the whole ISS scheme thing.
The devs did mention the idea of banks in the las vegas interviews and stuff, and said that the problem is if you do decide to up and run, there are no assets that can be locked down and given out as compensation and stuff. Take a listen, they're well worth it.

Why would players want to use a bank? Main reasons for banking IRL: safety, loans, and interest.
Its not safe for people to carry or keep a ton of cash around but in game thats not a problem.
The other thing, loans, can be done by each individuals corp. These loans are are interest free as well 
A bank in Eve wouldn't be very successful because the interest given by the bank wouldn't be worth the risk of having your money taken by the player. And like I said earlier the other two purposes of a bank are irrelevant in Eve.

Your wallet is akin to stuffing your cash underneath your mattress 
What he's proposing is some form of financial institution that invests in outposts/POS's/etc. using your money and gives you 5-7% interest in return.

Well if he put as investment rather than banking I would've been interested. Banking in my opinion is just somewhere to keep your money.
I would be interested. What kind of entry level are you thinking?
Ah wait 10mill hmm...
Sounds ok for a trial considering I can make 10 mill in about 2 hours.

Your wallet in game is your personal bank, no need to give away your isk to keep it safe.
As for investing, buy shares in the well established corps, and get your extra isk working for you that way.

Many of you can say this is a robbery, that it won't work. I do understand you, and what you say but:
1. Yes is based on an investment plan (with a wide open activity) that needs ISK, and i call it BANK because i give you (sincerly, honestly) no guarantee for your deposited money, only my word.
2. I've set small deposits because i need to gain you on my side.
3. The interests are small because i need further to develop my investment plans, and i do not wish not to be able to give your money and interest.
4. For the one who said that banks are for credits: Yes i will develop soon some kind of crediting system. I have it in my mind but i need to raise my capital first.

oh hell no. All I wrote disappeared becsause I took too long.
Butit was basically that I think this might be a scam, as there is no comprehensive business plan, and inputting the ISK in multiples shouldn't be needed to make calculating the interest easier.
Which it wouldn't be after the first month, a bank means the interest gets compounded.
And what did the devs say about a bank?

how would you get players to trust you when you can't even do the calculations right?
lets take the gold thing,
200m deposit.
6%/month interest.
and you claim that makes 72% annual.
annual interest is NOT simply 6%x12 it is infact 6%^12 or rather (1.06^12)-1
thich makes 1,0122 which in % is 101,22% (a whole lot higher than 72%)
edit, and how can the date in the bottom of the blue thing say 25.03.2006 when infact today is only the 23.03.2006

look to corps in an aliance in 0.0 space, that has outpost. Seems they would have members willing to sell shares (actualy they do, it is how i bought mine, and get monthly/quarterly dividends).
Shares are an investment for the long haul, not a quick turn over. For quick turn over, claim to be starting a bank and get players to send you isk...

I actually have a bank that I'm running. I use it to raise capital for my trade buisness. The main reason I'm successful, is because all the investors have been people in my Corp who don't have their own ways to invest the money they have (and who trust me, since having them walk out on us would kinda suck).
Yeah, I don't actually expect anyone who doesn't know me to want to open an account (and good traders can probably make more than the 5% a week I pay out), but I thought I'd mention it.
Slirtdan: If you are serious, you might want to first try to get people you already know to invest before looking elsewhere.
PS, I hope that when contracts come out, banking becomes more feasable with some form of enforcable banking contracts. |
