This auction for the Skiff Exhumer BPO: PE 3.
The Skiff is smallest of the second generation of mining vessels created by the ORE Syndicate. Exhumers, like their mining barge cousins, are equipped with electronic subsystems specifically designed to accommodate Strip Mining modules. They are also far more resilient, better able to handle the dangers of deep space. Skiffs are specialty vessels, designed to mine Mercoxit.
Mining Barge Skill Bonus: Able to equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester turrets. 3% better yield for Strip Miners per level
Exhumers Skill Bonus: 70% bonus to Mercoxit Mining Crystal yield multiplier and 20% reduced chance of gas cloud forming per level.
End Time: Sunday, March 26, 2006 @ 22:00
Starting Bid: 15 Billion isk
Reserve: None
Buy Out: 25 Billion isk
Minimum Increment: 500 Million
Sniper Rule: Yes: 15 minutes
Now before you decide to flame this auction consider the following:
I decided on 15 billion based on the demographic that will most likely benefit from this bpo: Mercoxit Miners. Given the bonuses of the Skiffs, the money made from supplying oneĘs own corp. mates with these little bad boys will more than pay itself back within a single monthĘs timełof course this is dependent on the amount of corp. mates you have.
Now, sure, any Mercoxit miner could just go to empire and buy them but they would also have to haul them out to where they need them sacrificing time away from Mercoxit mining and money. With the BPO, you build them where you need them saving you time and money.
Yes, I realize this same BPO has sold for considerably less in other auctions but that means nothing to me here. With the onset of new 0.0 space looming ever closer, this BPO ensures the brave, the courageous, and the bold will have first dib at some nice plump Mercoxit rocks.

With Kali, they plan to intoduce more "exploration" capabilities with the ability to discover other routes (or so the rumor goes). In addition, there are numerous posts that discuss the opening up of other parts of the map (0.0 space) that is currently blocked off. Here is one such post and each day that passes brings us one day closer to that big day.

Opening new space might happen, but there's nothing really planned, you can't base a t2 bpo sale on something that might happen in 6 months, 1 year or 2. Especially since ccp also said that they'll change the way t2 bpos are offered.
Too many unknown stuff coming in ;)

According the Oveur (or was it TomB), in Las Vegas they said they are planning to open 7 new 0.0 regions.
WHEN, is however ofcourse nothing we know yet, might be as close as Kali or might be a year+ away.
