When I first started a few weeks ago I found this forum on a guy who wrote a nice description of a good combat oriented Overview. Now I can't find it. Has anybody seen such a Overview guide out there for combat settings?

For PvP combat, I have the following set in my overview:
Stargates Planets (for escaping to or for following fleeing escapees) ALL ships Mobile Warp Disruptors
I tend to leave drones out, as they can clutter the overview. If you fly a cloaked ship, I'd recommend adding "biomass" to your overview as well: nothing worse than hitting a virtually invisible corpse at a camped gate!
For columns, I use the following:
Icon Name Ship Type Corp Velocity Size
The only reason I use size is because I tend to specialise in missiles. Turret users tend to prefer to have Transverese Velocity instead.
When it comes to ordering the overview, I do prefer to keep it in order of distance, but be prepared foryour targets to jump up and down the overview a lot! Some pilots I have flown with prefer to arrange by name, and omit gang/corp/alliance members to help them get teh lock onto their opponents that little bit faster. It's all down to personal choice really!

always remove friendlies/gang members from overview for pvp, makes life so much easier i have the alliance column enabled too, easier to identify people like that
i have mine setup to colour wartargets as flashing red and bad standing as solid red, that way i know who i can and cannot shoot in empire, death by concord is embarressing

Nothin worse nor funnier ingame than hitting F1-6 and selecting a target on a jumpy overview only to find out its targeting a gang mate

I normally order my overview by icon. That way people and NPC's stay at the top. . . . Regards, August Soldier of the Gooch |

Edited by: Tarn Star on 23/03/2006 21:01:24 It may have been me, and it may have been my write up which you can find Here
BTW, the blink function is apparently bugged at the moment, so don't use it.

np.
Another tgood option , especially if you are in a gang, corp, alliance is to stop tehm from being in your overview, so you don't accidentally target them
To do this, go into Overview settings, Then Filters, then click on the STates Tab. Untick "Pilot is in your gang", "Pilot is in your Alliance" , "Pilot is in your corporation"
Now they won't appear.

If removing friendlies from overview, in addition to pilots in gang/alliance/corp, also uncheck 'pilot has good standing' and 'pilot has high standing' to avoid seeing allies to target. Then you will only see neutrals and lower pop on your overview.
