I've been asking around, and I'll take my question a step farther.
Is anyone else noticing INSANE amounts of lag in the last day or two while playing?
I know most of the folks I play with, who are also here in N. America suffer almost intolerable amounts of lag that seriously effect game play and enjoyability. Yes, before anyone asks, we're ALL broadband users with excellent links.
Anyone know why this might be the case, aside from the fact we're a quarter of the world away from the servers? It seems worse than the typical amount of latency to be expected.

I guess that we are just used to playing CS and games that have no bandwith cap.

YEP. Was laggy as hell last night and locked up like 4 times... Did a few times the night before. I have 1.5mb dedicated connection so I'm not sure where the lag is coming in unless its server side or backbone or something..

We have currently the mother of all lags in the amarr system. Over 200 people here. Took me over 10 minutes to login there.

I've noticed alot of lag lately, usually around the 20:00 GMT mark, i'm also on broadband and live a couple of miles down the road from the servers!
Actually i'm writing this while waiting for the lag to stop so I can dock

Ah, good. I guess it's not just us then. Somehow, that's vaguely comforting and entirely disturbing at the same time. I lag, but I don't lag alone.
I pay for this?

You are entirely right, I don't have to. And while the nature of all online games is to lag a little, Eve has of late far surpassed 'A little'.
See, a little is the occasional hiccup, the occasional 'rewind' of your ships forward thrust, the occasional lack of response from your controls, but when we get into the experiences people are sharing now, we far surpass 'A little'. Notice, I haven't been here complaining about it until now.
Secondly, what's the deal with you people who think the answer to everything is encouraging people to leave? Trust me, if the game doesn't improve you'll get your wish, but I think the game's gonna get pretty boring for you when all you have are you wise-apples who suggested everyone who wasn't afraid to stand up and point out flaws in the operations and even creation of the game leave. My god, the sheer pleasure and thrill it would be!
Lord knows, because you say so, we have no right to state a product we actively purchased and continue to pay for is flawed, and often so flawed as to disturb enjoyment. 
I digress however, my point was, the lag issues are getting nasty and need to be addressed.

well.. did they not just upgrade IOS on the gateway router? Might be related to that.
