Drones still suck.
In fact, last night something weird happened. I doing a mission and going through what has become my ritual every since their wonderful "drone hate" patch. It's a simple ritual to exploit the new AI programming which is almost, but not quite, as moronic as the programmed it in the first place. Simply put, I launch sentries, open fire, count to twelve, and recall them. That gets them back in their bays just as every rat on the screen gets a lock on them. Then I count to three, which is just under the time it would take for the rats to target me instead, and then release my sentries again, thus forcing the rats to drop me as a target and begin targeting my drones again. Which means the rats never actually get a shot off.
So far it's been working great for the last few months but then one of the rats actually shot at my ship instead of only targeting my drones. This has never happened before... well, not since the stupid patch, at least. Was this a fluke, or does this mean that I'll need to actually fly something with more than 5000EHP to run level 4 missions now? Am I actually going to have to *gasp* tank my drone boats like I used to way back when?
