I don't use the 64-bit edition of XP because there's been too many reports of bizzare problems with 32-bit applications (even ones from Microsoft, such as MSN Messenger).
But, with that said, I recommend both of the above posters read this thread:

There are claims that dual core setups do not behave properly under EVE. I might test those claims out tonight, depending upon if I have time or not (see my post near the bottom of that thread for details).
Basically, my attitude is this: if you're a hardcore gamer and want full compatibility with every game out of the box, go with a single CPU system. There are many MANY commercial games which behave improperly with true SMP setups, due to CPU context switching bugs in the games themselves.
If you ask me "If you could go back and change your mind about your dual core CPU (X2 3800+) purchase, would you?", my answer would be yes. Am I *GOING* to return it and get a single CPU? Nope. I'll try the affinity method first. :-)

XP64 and eve work fine together. There was a spate of driver problems (nVidia) that caused missing text and crashing but it seems the have all gone away now.
Dual core and Eve work as well (make sure you have applied the dual core fix to windows XP as it will improve performance, not seen one for XP64 but I think it has one somewhere). I have built 2 DC systems for people and always test with eve for a few hours as it stresses the system more than my stress test program does.
As for XP64 and DC, I dont know as I have never run that combination. It should not have any problems though. << Insert whitty sig here >>

Athlon64, XP x64, NVidia, Creative SB Live - I can confirm EVE works fine.
