ok.. there's no 'tech help' forum that i can see so i'll ask this here.
Anyone know what would cause my CD Rom Drives to NOT recognize that i have taken 1 cd out and put a new one in it?
to explain it a bit. Lets say i have the CD For Homeworld 2 sitting in my CDRom Drive.. if i take it out, then put in the CDRom for EVE-online. My computer still thinks the CD for Homeworld 2 is in the drive, and tries to open up the game. Then fusses at me for it not being able to find the .exe file.
This didnt happen till i reformated my computer. Then suddenly Both my CD Rom and DVD Drives started acting up like this. Anyone have any ideas on whats causeing it, or a way to fix it?
Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you have a problem with autorun being disabled, therefore not refreshing the contents of the drive. Unless autorun itself is having this problem, in which case I'm baffled.

As an aside, you have the coolest signature image I've ever seen.

Unfortunately its too big.. (fix it now before you get a point against your forum account!) --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Aria, I have had a similar situation myself before, it occurred on my PC and several of my firend's PCs with older CDRW/DVDROM drives and Windows 2000. In some cases the drive itself would disappear from within "My Computer".
Try cleaning off your CDs and reboot, see what happens.

Hit "F5" (Refresh) in My Computer or Explorer. It should update then, sounds like you have Autorun turned off. (I have it off by preference, otherwise crap keeps opening up when you put a CD/DVD in).
