Who are you people and what have you done with the real CCP?
I am please to see that you are making a big effort to get some really interesting changes out of the barn door for the winter expansion. Of course you have been sloppy in the past, tut tut; but! It's nice to see this kind of energy being put into making the core game more interesting.
Blaster changes are looking very interesting and will give me some new interest in my Gallente ships (my favourites anyway). Also I might have something other than Minmatar and Angel hulls to actually fight against, which means I can try out some different tactics for a change too GÖÑ (Lots of skirmish people suddenly learning what it's like to fly Gallente and actually commit to a fight 
Also I hoped but never expected to hear that you were rejigging stargates so travel can become intuitive what with the new Nebulae. PLEASE don't let this slip into obscurity, it would be far too awesome an idea to not get implemented.

I have built up so much guilt over my backlog of portraits that I have suppressed them from memory, I have put them in my to do list with a stern reminder that repeats each day... starting tomorrow! Will get it done soon and offer 2 for 1 to everyone that I currently owe one to GÖÑGÖÑ

Yeah, CCP re-orienting stargates to point at the destination was a real pleasant surprise. Hope it doesn't get cut from the expansion (or if it does, it just gets delayed to when they can make it work).
This whole 'quick and productive dev-player interaction' lately gives a feeling of unreality. Hope it stays for a while. |

Actually the comment I read about this said its not in this expansion, but something they hope to get done some time afterwards.

Well itGÇÖs already on SiSi, some of the gates IGÇÖve been through are now pointing towards the nebula, so it is being tested.
Also a new GÇÿwarp to gate and auto jump, feature and a new autopilot trick of warp to gate and jump, then warp to 15K at the station your picked and auto dock, very swish

This new refocus really is awesome. Just read the thread about animations for turrets missing their target too.
However, no matter how much ccp does some of us are going to have a problem as long as nex exists.
So not gonna kiss ccp's ass just yet. |

It is very nice seeing little bits fall into place and a greater attention to detail. For a niche game like this I wholly believe numerous small improvement the likes of which we are finally seeing will grow the game through word of mouth more than any glittery half finished expansion.

As a bitter-vet (I guess I qualify at this point) - I would tell people "EVE lives, in spite of CCP's best efforts to kill it".
Quality control and attention to detail matters. One of the reasons that Blizzard's WoW succeeded where EQ2 did not was because Blizzard did a very good job of paying attention to small details and making improvements in the gameplay experience. Or witness some of the other extremely buggy MMO launches over the past years where they attempted to release a buggy product and promise to patch it later.
Little fixes like this that can be knocked out in 1-3 weeks of developer time pay off in spades because your customers are less frustrated with the UI or the way a particular game mechanic is overly obtuse and unintuitive. |

If that was the reason, then yes. However it wasn't.
CCP tried to develop/maintain 3 games at the same time, they failed. And 200 people had to pay for that with pink slips.
So while I rejoice in the 'new' CCP I can't dismiss that I wished it could have happened earlier.
On the other hand, if it had happened earlier most of those 200 hadn't been employed at the first place.
So it's not just black and white ;) |
