I just finished training my alt up to fly a Cerberus, for missions mainly. Along with training specifically for the Cerberus, I've found that I could easily do most level 3 missions in my Caracal, launching heavies from 57km out and not having too much trouble with anything except ceptors.
I am currently moving to low security space, and I was reviewing my missile skills. I was shocked to find that after training for faster missile velocity and utilizing flight time bonuses, I am able to shoot from 83km+ in a Caracal if fitted with a sensor booster, max lock range of my caracal is around 57km without boosters.
I would like suggestions for a PvP Caracal setup utilizing tech2 heavy launchers and advanced precision heavies as ammo. But, at the same time, aside from spending the isk on the launchers and ammo, I would like to keep the price spent on the setup down to a minimum due to my lack of experience in a 0.0 environment.
The caracal is by far my 1st choice as a cheap PvP vessel. I am currently upgrading my shield skills to utilize on my Cerberus, if and when I buy one, and would like suggestions for shields to use on the Caracal. Can already use Invulnarability Field 2's , but would like to keep things cheap because I am sure to lose a few ships while in 0.0
Thanks!!

Hi- 5x T2 Heavie Launcher
Med- 1x Sensor Booster 1x Large SB 1x Medium capacitor injector (use with 800 cap booster) 1x Webber 1x Scrambler
Low- 2x BCU2
With signature analysis 5, you might just get lucky enought to lock on the ceptor fast enought to scramble him and fire one volley, which should be enought to kill it.
In big engagements (gang vs gang) then use the sensor booster to stay away from blaster users and use the large shield booster to sustain damage, the cap injector will save you. Replace the sensor booster with an AB if you prefer. I suggest not using a MWD, as you signature becomes so horribly big that even torps will hit you...
Good luck!

My setup:
5x heavy II 2x large shield extender II 1x x5 web 1x 20km scrambler 1x hardener 1x RCU II 1x BCS
This caracal, if using Precisions, can take on whole groups of AFs and inties with ease, and even kill a cruiser. Toss on Fury and it'll absolutely shred any cruiser.
It is especially good versus gankships. People will expect its an easy kill and come in with an untanked cruiser. They'll attack you, and it'll go something like this:
First volley: Enemy shields down, your shields at full. Second volley: Enemy armor at 30%, your shield at 95%. Third volley: Enemy structure at 50%, your shield at 85%. Fourth volley: Enemy dead, your shield at 70%.

Thanks Dark Shikari. That sounds like a good set up as well. What do you all think about a passive shield tank on a Caracal?

It isn't much of a passive tank--it does considerable per-second recharge with decent resists, but in PvP someone is going to break it easily.
The main deal is that it forces the enemy to go through 6500 shield to get to your hull
With a passive tank, you can also use Furies without repurcussions. In fact, one of my favorite tricks is to use Fury missiles and drain my cap during warp to the enemy--then his NOS can't get him any cap.

Are Furies faction missiles? I've yet to see those mentioned or listed anywhere, still new to missiles and Caldari ships, my main is Minmitar/Projectile.
Thanks for the input guys!

Pvp?
5 assault or 5 T2 heavies vith precision.
Ecm and Sensorboosters 3/2.
CPRx2
Works beautfully, specially in gangs. -

Assaults do very very low DPS... IMO they need a boost, as they are currently basically useless with the advent of T2 precision heavy missiles.

Mmm. The Assault is a Frigkiller setup that costs absolutely nothing but pops frigs and inties in a heartbeat.
T2 heavies are nice but if you spec in gunnery (like me) the assaults allow you to be an effective supportship with a very low SP req. -

True. They're primarily useful when you can't use T2 heavies.
However, they were gimped even further with the 20% boost to heavy launcher DPS. Assaults got nothing
