Great additions
And one more thing that I wanted to share since the new radial menu came out:
What you did with the radial menu is fantastic. I barely used the old one, but can't imagine the game without the new one now Usability, design, response... everything feels so natural. I really think it's the best piece of UI that I ever had a chance of using. CCP Ytterbium: Yarrblblbgrlblbgrlblblblbblbgrlblblbgrblblyarrrrdrooooooolonthekeyboardlikealunatic |

I like how CCP is assimilating the playerbase into the new UI ship icons slowly but surely. They already started with the new icons in ISIS, and now the radial menu for tracking.
I would love for them to be flat out implemented, but that would anger an unknowable amount of the playerbase and seeing how CCP likes to play it safe. I'm just glad it's getting there.
Here is a preview picture for anyone who doesn't know what I am talking about.

Things that would really help the tracking camera:
1. Don't change my zoom level every time I change targets. 2. Really, stop changing my zoom level, I hate it. 3. Give us a mode that always faces the direction we're traveling. 4. And when I switch into that new # 3 mode, DON'T CHANGE MY ZOOM LEVEL!
Thanks :)

Thanks :) I'm also confused how it's ever helpful to have the camera face the station when you've undocked. 95% of the time I want to right click space to click a (mission) bookmark. |

I haven't really checked the details about feature changes, but...
I hope you guys have added option to prevent tracking camera changing the zoom level.
I would use tracking camera for several things if it didn't change the zoom level at all. Currently it does and it is useless for me because of that.
Just my 5 cents... thank you.

This.
I use the new tracking camera in situations where it's absolutely necessary to save time, but the fact that it changes my zoom level makes it irritating as hell. What should be a convenient tool is just a nuisance because of the forced zoom change.
I know it's not threadnaught-worthy, but it can't be a major change either. Please fix it so the client remembers my zoom level.

This too!
I've long campaigned for this feature, I think an optional fixed 'tail-cam' view could deliver a more connected spaceflight experience.
It might also make interceptor pilots motion sick, so win-win. ;) EVE Online: The Text Adventure --- GameSkinny Correspondent --- Freebooted Blogger |

I like it, although the custom centered one seems a bit tight on sisi. It would be nice if you could tweak where your ship was in relation to the tracking center.

Please provide an alternative to the radial control. It's so the opposite of accessible.
While it was certainly innovative in the mid '90s, most systems no longer use it because of the difficulties that people with even the lightest physical impairments have using it. (Arthritis, recovered hand or forearm injury...not to mention MS and the like)

There are several different means of gaining feedback and we look at them all.
For one, this has been on the public test server in several different iterations since well before the dev blog and we've had some very valuable feedback as a result.
I can only say that the balance of all feedback received has been positive and take it from there. We'll keep the feature under the review in any event.

Don't know why du you have problems with radial buttons. I do personally like this concept, because it doesn't overload your screen and easy to access. |

Um.. either something peculiar has happened to the tracking camera or I'm not using it right, but now the Custom Tracking Position function seems to behave like the Esc menu Ship View Camera Settings slider. Instead of the selected object and the player ship being kept in different relative positions, they are both pushed together.
That's not intended is it? EVE Online: The Text Adventure --- GameSkinny Correspondent --- Freebooted Blogger |

Why do I need the use the "center tracking position" to d-scan thing???
I know I might be one of the few, but I always play with the tracking camera on.
In the old version my camera was offset to the left and the object tracked wasn't directly behind my ship but I was still getting perfect result from the 5 degree scan. WHY that doesn't work anymore?
I don't want to have my ship lined up with the object I want to d-scan... Why did you change this?
Or someone tell me how to reproduce that with the new system if that possible, might have missed it. |

Re-tested everything... it's now impossible to have any camera offset if you want to d-scan something...
Either using the camera offset in the "Esc" menu or using the custom tracking position **** up the d-scan.
This suck... wasn't broken... why change it... hate you
Now I'm going to be stuck at looking at my target through my ship... which sadly isn't very translucid...
Or give me a shortcut to switch from custom tracking position to center position! |

It is not entirely clear to me or the team quite what you are describing as an issue.
It would be very helpful if either of you could clearly set out the steps you used to take to get the behaviour you found useful.

THEN (from memory)
Prior to the 1.1 revision, activating the tracking camera would allow me to position the target of the camera on the right whilst my ship would remain on the left. Irrespective of how either my ship or the target behaved, their position on the screen would remain constant, making good use of the screen real estate to provide a cinematic view.
So:
1. Activate Tracking Camera 2. Set target to the right side of the screen. 2. Target is kept to the right 3. My ship stays to the left.
NOW
Setting up the same conditions using the new Custom Tracking Position button on the radial menu sometimes causes both my ship and the target to move to the right. In attempting to replicate this I was unable to consistently achieve the same result. Sometimes the expected behaviour would occur: ship to the left target to the right, but occasionally this would not be the case and the camera would shift to both ship and target to the same area of screen (on the right).
So:
1. Select CUSTOM TRACKING POSITION button from radial menu. 2. Drag target square to the right side of the screen. 3. Target is kept to the right. 4. My ship also moves to the right (sometimes).
At some point when I have time, I will endeavour to FRAPS or stream the effect, but at least now I have found it to be inconsistent I realise it is a bug and not an intended modification of the camera behaviour. EVE Online: The Text Adventure --- GameSkinny Correspondent --- Freebooted Blogger |

As described it certainly sounds like a defect.

The main change I want to see with this feature is an easier way to turn it off forever.
The "c" key toggling it is a pain because you often type 'c' for other reasons (chat messages when you accidentally did not select corp chat first, whatever) and unintentionally turning this 'feature' on is disorienting, distracting and dizzying.
Change it to something like Alt+Shift+'c'. Noone's going to accidentally hit that, but it's still there if someone wants to use it and they can access it at a moment's notice once they build up the muscle memory to press those keys fast. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318489 - Proposal for a new type of tech 2 Destroyer If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |
