There is no reason for having this option in game. Why would anyone want to abort training if they can just start training another skill wihout any losses to current skill being trained?

For the record, I believe that the fact that you lose your progress when you "abort" is a bug, or a stealth nerf. It didn't use to be like that. Aborting used to work like starting another skill does.
So people should complain, instead of taking it for granted. There's no point in it. |

I find I keep my progress when I abort. Though when I heard about everyone losing theirs I decided to play it safe and swap skills instead.

Oh course if abort does does drop your skill points back to original amount (that b4 training). instead of using abort for alt characters you could just buy some random rank(1) skill and learn that (20 mins ish). or alternativly select a skill you haven't started to train above the last level you reached swap to that and imediately abort that one instead... It may save your points ?

hmmm
when I either abort training, or start training a second skill (and the first one stops) i ALWAYS loose 2/3rds of the skillpoints that i had gained towards the next skill level?
I have heard that some people get to keep the whole lot? i always hoped they were joking :(

I never lose skill points when switching from one to another.
The only time i 'apparently lose' skill points is when there is a display bug on the actual number of points I've accumulated. ie. I start trainging a new skill, and it jumps to 5000+ skill points at the start, but the total time required is accurate | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

I lose poins if i click on another skill to train, without aborting the current skill 1st.
The way to do it is, abourt your current skill (I keep all my points this way)
Start training a new one.

I always keep the points I've gained, but only if I abort when docked in a station.
The display says that I've lost points, but after a few seconds, it reverts to what it should be.
