Just a quickie ... Do NPCs ever scramble with a warp scramble strength greater than one?

The slightly longer answer would be : If they are orbiting you at less than 7.5k then eve is at liberty to give them a 2 point scramble. This does not mean they always will have but they can.

As far as I know the lowest level mission this happens in is the level 2 Human Cattle in part 4.

Thanks. The main reason I asked is that I did a level 4 mission yesterday that had about 7 webifiers circling me.
I had 1 warp stab fitted (yeah, boo, I suck!) but thought I was toast. However they obviously don't stack as I managed to warp out and recharge.
However if a single one of them hit me with a strength 2 scrambler, then it would have been goodnight from me!

It's been my experience that not all the tackler-npc/webifers scramble you, same as that not all tackler-npc/scramblers will webify you... if that makes any sense

Unless you do somthing horribly wrong like thinking you can just kill the three drone bunkers in infilatrated outpost with cruise missiles from afar and get away
7 strain drones scrambling at the same time, and all of their friends aproaching quickly
Bad idea :D

Webifiers do not stop you from jumping, they drop your max speed to some low percent, like 5%. Warp jammers stop you from warping.

I think he means the ships called Webifiers (e.g. Guristas Webifier).
As far as I know, those don't scramble anyway. At least I haven't seen any of them scramble at all since RMR -- I was under the impression that scrambling had mostly been removed, since they now jam with ECM.
The only Guristas ships I've seen that have scrambled me for sure were Dire Pith frigates, especially Dire Pith Imputors.

I'm pretty sure angel webifiers can warp scramble.

Yes, what the two gentlemen above said. Pretty sure I was being warp scrambled, I had the purple haze effect.

Edited by: Tybos on 31/03/2006 20:20:34 Several things
The purple haze effect is a webber, it slows your max speed but you can still warp...
Scramblers look like a blue effect going from the scrambler to your ship in bursts. Hard to see.
Scrambling DOES stack. When I gate camp with allies, a moa can have 4 stabs and each of our -1 scramblers adds together to scramble the moa (I have seen this sort of thing countless times, diff ships involved of course)
A Guristas webifier has a 35% chance of carrying a webber and a 25% chance of carrying a scrambler of strength 1. A guristas kyrokan has a 50% chance of carrying a webber and a 50% chance of carrying a scrambler of strength 1. Just a couple examples.
So what happened in your situation was you were webbed and at most, one of the circling frigates was trying to scramble you.

I guess since there is always a chance of scrambling (I havent seen very many lvl 4s without webbing ships) then I should always bring at least 1 stab. Ive heard that they wont stack them (the rats use one at a time) so having enough prot against one scrambler should be enough. Unless I'm wrong

There are a few NPCs with strength 2 scramblers...
I don't know if the other webifiers refuse to use their scrambler they have because one of their brotheren is already trying to scramble. If that's so, then there shouldn't be a l4 mission out there that 2 wcs can't get you out of. Which seems wrong to me but I lack evidence (as do you).

It's true, they tend not to all warp scramble at the same time. However, forgetting to set an autopilot destination and then wondering why you won't warp out tends to negate this anyway.
