Does anyone consider tracking enhancers (low slot) worth using? And if so, under what circumstances? For context, I recently switched my Paladin from beams to pulse, and I'm debating swapping out my third heat sink for a tracking enhancer. |

I'd almost go as far as saying that if you don't have 4 HS on your Pally you're doing it wrong because you can't be needing many slots for tanking. Your tracking should come from tracking computers, not TE.

Wouldn't you get more projection from TE+TP over 4th HS+TC? |

As in, removing a 3rd HS and having only 2?
Don't do it. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

The tracking speed on lasers is pretty decent. If you were a rail gun or arty pilot suffering from a lot of grazing hits this might be more valuable. I wouldn't remove a heatsink.
However, as has been pointed out, tracking computers are more better. Use scripted tracking computers, they are way better than anything you will get out of a tracking enhancer.
The abbreviations in these posts were maddening even knowing what they were. |

4 HS + 2 TC + Bastion = face melting.

Tracking enhancers are really pretty sub-par now when using them for falloff (I suppose they're still okay for tracking speed). I'd much rather use a tracking computer if enough mid-slots are available. |

Do you use beams or pulse with that set up? I've been frustrated by the few BS rats that like to keep their distance. I keep having to turn off bastion to chase them down. |

can use beams or pulse. and scorch should hit out to 90km so you shouldn't need to run anything down. Or use a mobile depot and swap your guns in mission.
A target painter might be a useful addition, in general they seem underrated but may or may not be useful. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

You can make a fit that allows for either mega pulses as Tachyons, fit stays the same you just swap out the lasers depending on the mission. And it works in both cases, personally I prefer Tachs because they're just so much better than pulses at 30+km.

If it's a tach Paladin for missions you should have four heatsinks in the lows and three tracking computers in the mids. A three HS Paladin may be forgivable if you're starting to fly it and a bit nervous. A two HS Paladin is well just terrible and makes me sad
Adding a tracking enhancer won't help because it stacks against the tracking computers. |

It still helps, just as a 4th HS does. And more importantly, if you're scripted for range it gives undiminished tracking and when running tracking scripts it gives almost undiminished range. You really only need a repper and an EANM for tank, so that leaves 5 low slots. 4HS + TE makes good sense.

Is it worth having more range and tracking?

You're not getting much at all out of that TE when it's stacked with three TC's and the DC might save you if something goes wrong. I normally don't like a DC on a PVE ship but in this case I prefer it over a second EANM. |
