best ship scanner has range of 58km.
Is there any way to increase it ? skills, modules ?

not correct.
Sensor Booster and Long Range Targeting improve targeting range of the ship itself, not the any other modules.
I am talking about Ship Scanner I module

As far as I've ever been able to work out, there is no way to augment the scan range. Unless there are faction scanners out there...

Dont believe Ive ever seen a faction scanner.
I'd be pretty gutted if an officer dropped one of them instead of some real loot :S

First : the scanner range on ANY ship is 14.4 AU - that is something like 2.127.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx km - try to increase the scanner with many digits it lets you - then scan.
Second: there is this skill Survey , but i think it has something to do with the targeting speed, not sure.

Please be more careful reading about the issue. Issue is there : Item_Database/Ship_Equipment/Electronics_and_Sensor_Upgrades/Scanners/Ship_Scanners

thats bad. with cloaking restriction on modules activation, intelligence sux here. U'll be promptly blasted on 50km trying to scan some bad guy.

I agree entirely: I'd love to be able to passively scan ships in a cloaked Covert Ops ship.

Sorry, I misinterpreted. Seems someone else has answered the question though. I know of no way to increase the scan range of the Ship Scanner Module, unfortunately. |

That would be fun! Maybe after each successful scan you decloak. Then the enemy knows they're getting scanned and with every new scan, they get a better idea of where you are (and can send interceptors etc).

You already have this now: you have to decloak in a cov ops to scan but can recloak pretty fast with good skills. Takes not so long to scan a ship (boosters). Combine that with a passive targeter so you won't be locked automatically by your target and after cloaking you're off again.

Will a ship scan be disrupted by warping if you remain within range of the target the whole time? I'm thinking you could decloak, lock and begin the scan and then warp to a nearby bookmark or can you'll have set up. You could warp to one ~160km away at 100km range so you'd only actually warp 60km and then cloak mid-warp so as far as the enemy can see, you look like you just warped off to a faraway safespot in the distance and cloaked on your way there. In reality, you just moved to the other side of him.
