Firstly are they any good ;also Has anyone got any ideas about setting one of these babies up to get through those chokepoints. The crane looks the better option for speed but i'm undecided. any help woud be great.

Fit Warp Core Stabilisers, the more dangerous the system, the more stabs you need.
Also, consider using a scout to check the jump-in is safe before you risk your ship.

They're both great ships, but for going through chokepoints, I'd recommend the Crane. --- High quality pics of most EVE ships!

yeah the speed alone on the crane looks scary. but MWD or AB. I thought MWD with good warp core stabs on .

Bustard all the way. It may look slower on the surface, but those five low slots make up for a lot. Fill them up with nanofibers and the thing turns on a dime. If you want the Crane's +2 warp core strength bonus, stick on a couple of stabilizers -- with three nanofibers in the remaining low slots, you're still in the same ballpark, speed- and agility-wise.
Plus you're going to need absolutely every megawatt of powergrid to fit a MWD on the Crane. Literally -- even with Engineering 5, you can fit a stock T1 MWD and absolutely nothing else. If you want to put anything else in your other mid or high slots, you're going to have to waste one of its low slots on a RCU to increase your grid. By comparison, the Bustard can easily fit a T2 MWD, a T2 medium shield booster, and a T2 EM hardener, giving it a decent tank.
On top of that, the Bustard has twice the shields and twice the armor (with better resistances on both), and nearly twice the cargo capacity. More cap, too. And more versatility if you want to do more than run blockades with it.

I'd Go Crane.
If you want to go through hostile space, the speed is good, but what wins is the agility. Your ability to enter warp the fastest.
The +2 wcs str really helps too, allows you to fit inertial stabs to decrease the time it takes to warp. I can enter warp with my Crane in about the same time as a T1 Frig, and I'm next to impossible to jam and can run a great tank.
If you're looking to buy one I'd go through NAGGA. They charge the lowest price
It's where I bought mine!

Also, they are good.
Transports are the most underestimated ship for their value. you can safely haul rare ores, mods, all that good stuff with the minimum risk. Its annoying to use a Cov ops frig to haul it can take many trips, which increases risk.
Caldari also have the best Transports and the Best Freighter, odd because Gal have the best industrials... go figure.
If you are in 0.0 and are going from one of your stations to another or a belt to station and you arn't worried about hostiles go Bustard, but if you think you may encounter hostiles go Crane all the way!
I love mine! I think I said that already lol.

According to the ship database, the Bustard and Crane have the same base agility.
If that's true, the Bustard's wealth of low slots gives it the potential for even higher agility, even if you do devote two of them to stabilizers to match the Crane's built-in bonus. And, with a MWD, the Bustard has speed and agility. :)

first off, forget inertia stabs - nanofiber are better, not just better - like 100times better if not more.
bustard for mroe cargospace, when u move alot of stuff thorugh empire, but dont wonna get it ganked by bs, u can also get an mwd on it - but it mass makes it warp only a few au`s, pretty annoying.
the crane has only 4k cargo space, but with 2 nanos its damn fast, plus the warcores its not easy to get. ur choice for 0.0 - Purple Conquered The World, We the Universe.

Only the bustard can fit a cloak.. and with a improved one it can still do almost 80ms. Cloak is a very nice tool for when running fails.
I use on with my alt as a loot scoop, spy and tackler!

I agree. Between a cloak and a MWD, I've never seen reason to fit stabilizers on my Bustard at all, at least when going gate-to-gate.
But why can't the Crane fit one?

That's funny, my CRANE has no trouble activating the CLOAK I have on it when I need to avoid detection :)
