Welcome to our new forum, and a special thanks to the web team, marketing and community people to make this happen :)
I'm a senior programmer on the team in Newcastle and one of the guys who started the original EVE-VR project for last Fanfest.
We are in heavy production right now, and got some very exciting things to share with you in the coming months. But until then, feel free to ask us questions and we'll do our best to answer :)
If you are interested in the backstory of how EVE: Valkyrie came about, please read the devblog from last year: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/eve-vr-an-experiment-in-bringing-virtual-reality-to-the-eve-universe/
.. and you can be sure we'll publish more devblogs in the coming months! - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

Greetings all, I know that EVE Valkyrie is far from being completed and/or released even for a Alpha test, but I was just wondering if there was any kind of an idea on what kind of hardware requirements were going to be.
I know it is really too soon to know even what platform it is going to be on. But if we could get an idea now, we could start making plans for the system we are going to need in the future.

Hey guys. Nice to see you. Looking forward to this quite a bit! Though I hope it's more integrated with Tranquility than people have indicated so far. |

It's is way too early still for hardware requirements, but virtual reality is going to require you to run at some pretty high framerates in at least 1080p resolution. - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

As my current graphics card was purchased more for epeen purposes than actual need (I couldn't be seen as having a lower end card than my friend, no way), I say bring it on. Highest. Specs. Ever. |

I'll hold you to that ;) Personally I think if VR really takes off, it will kick off the next revolution in PC hardware. - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

I'm saving my money for Oculus rift from the fanfest, but maybe not everyone can get it in the beginning of *cough* early closed beta testing for EVE or DUST players *cough* |

Wish we could, but we're a small studio with not many management people and a lot of top secret VR hardware in our labs.. and uhm, prototype security systems too ofc! :D - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

All I can say for now is that VR is still very much at the core of Valkyrie. .it's a big part of what will make this game special :) - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

Cuz if one guy drops "Hey, yeah, it should work without Oculus Rift", then they're held to it as a development requirement. |

Before the announcements by CCP, I did not know ANYTHING about "Oculus Rift" or such technology existed.
Prior to EVE: Valkyrie's launch, I am planning on getting the most "sophisticated and up-to-date" model of Oculus Rift that we can afford.
Please bring market/gameplay integration between EVE/DUST/Valkyrie.
My dear CCP, you do that, and I will continue to spend thousands for CCP. |

Great new forum. I for one am looking forward to seeing your announcements here. Besides I was wondering if you all were going to end up like the "White Wolf" group and just fade away in silence. EVE Online is CCP's sand box. -áThe sand is owned by CCP. -áWe just get to pay them a monthly fee to throw the sand at each other. -áGet over your thoughts that you have some influence on what they will add or do for you. |

Have you guys hashed out any additional game modes? Team Deathmatch of course, but have you looked at any others? And would there be a possibility for people to make their own custom 'maps' and scenarios similar to Counterstrike?
Maybe a single player/co-op campaign? |

We're not ready to announce anything yet on game modes, but yes we are looking at other things than TDM :) - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

Nice new threads and nice new forums.
I am wondering about a few things.
One is that, will EVE Valkyrie dogfighting pilots possibly be traded on the Character Bazaar?
I believe this would require a lot of integration work and may not be possible for economic reasons. (At least not to start... The design practical approach seem to be more efficient and easier to implement at this time.)
2. Since communication is a critical part of military operations, tactics, and possibly strategy, how could it work ingame?
3. Brainstorming part: I believe that to offer games for a low fee could help to cover for administration costs to operate the system.
I can understand a model offering free to play games with possible benefit from external residual based on conditions. It can generate more users, depending on the availability of the free to play game. It can also depend on the time those users have available.
A bigger user base should cost more to manage and operate the system related to them. (I'm not including exceptions or the descriptions as to why and how they are exceptions.)
4. I was going to include some note related to DUST 514 but I'll skip it for ease and focus.
I don't believe the "Gambleurization" of the system alone would create social solutions. |

Prototype security systems, now being in Georgieland and myself having a GF from County Durham which is a bit south, I know what these prototype security systems are...they are called Newcastle women.

I am very excited about this project because the future of VR is exciting and having a proven game developer in their corner should only help the industry get off to a good start.
Good luck guys look forward to seeing this thing progress.
