TL;DR : which race has best capital ship line (Carrier, Dread, Super Cap, Titan) ?
Coming back to eve after three years of break, I'd realize that this is time for caps.
I looked into each race's capital ship line and realized that Amarr would be best fit for me.
Is there any other reason I should give a second look to other race? such as Gallente? |

What do you intend to do with the capital? How much support from other people will you have? |

If you are going to be in low sec or 0.0 cap fleets or do combat triage, the Archon is the way to go - most fleets which use triage are still armor, while the main alliance capital doctrines mainly are armor too - DD's Wyvern fleet etc. being the exception.
I conclusion, the Archon is normally still the way to go, but ask your corp leadership before you choose. |

Carriers: Archon or Chimera. Archons are preferred because most cap-scale engagements are still dominated by armor. Chimera is damn sexy though. Nids can theoretically pump out the most reps but end up being tanked opposite their rep capability. They are widely considered the best at repping POSes though. Thanatoses are... not really that great at anything.
Dreads: Moros for raw damage (taking down abandoned or light defended POSes, blasting POCOs, blapping in small scale, close-range engagements). Revelation for extended shoots both due to no reload but also because they are best able to receive Archon reps between siege cycles. Naglfars are, at least on paper and in propaganda, seeing a comeback now that they are pure gunboats with insane alpha capabilities. I'm frankly unsure if Omega fleet is really a thing yet but it looks reasonable on paper. Oh, Moros or Nag seem to be preferred in cap escalations as well. Phoenix is awful; don't train for one.
Above that... meh. Figure that one out when the time comes. If you're just getting into cap ships you don't want to commit to a flying coffin. |
