My salvage drones no longer will automatically salvage. It seems they only work on a targeted ship. This is very disappointing and I hope it's just a bug that will be fixed.
I read the patch notes and it said this about Salvage Drones.
Salvage drones can no longer be sent outside the maximum drone control range.
I don't read this as meaning that salvage drones will no longer salvage automatically. Can anyone enlighten me on whether this is a bug or will salvage drones only work on targeted wrecks from now on?

had no problems with mine, sent 1 out while fighting rats ,by the time i'd finished killing rats he salvaged most of them. btw i do use a MTU to pull wrecks closer to solve the range problem .

I remember a bug where they only auto salvage if you tell them to do it while you have no active targets. Try that. |

i guess people shouldnt have asked CCP to "fix" drone mechanics then...

Nope that doesn't work for me -
Cant get them to auto salvage at all - tried on aggressive, passive, - set safety to green, yellow and red - cant get them to auto salvage.
Do they work for you?

It has absolutely always worked this way for me indeed. If you just unleash your drones, they will obviously just buzz around doing nothing. If no active targets, and selecting "Salvage", they will clear out everything in range absolutely. But they have to be "told" first.

That doesn't work for me - I HAVE to target each wreck - click salvage and wait - drones go idle and then I have to click salvage again on next wreck

Yes, I know it doesn't work. I was just responding to Kizmin Rider to tell her that the way you had them auto salvage (at least pre-Rubicon 1.1) was to have the drones salvage when there were no active targets.
But yes, this is no longer working. |

When I tried the salvage drones, I had nothing targetted. I used the "Salvage" option, but they continued to sit idle. They only work for me now when I target every single wreck and give the command separately for each wreck. Which is frankly a pain in the behind.
And incidentally: I have 51 km drone range, and the wrecks were withing 20 km.

Confirming this. I have to target wrecks to get them to salvage that one single wreck. Aggressive or not has no effect. Focus or not has no effect.

I always do this, since if I have a target they'll go for that and stop salvaging once done with said target. It was like this before the patch as well. |

Haven't tried them since the patch, my missioning alt generally blitzes these days, but pre-patch there were also issues if you had a wreck selected (as opposed to locked). |

I'm guess its got something to do with millions of lines of code, trillions of individual ways that code will be run (based on dynamic variables) and deadlines.
