I know is two CGI movies in production iirc
Las Vegas Gathering One (Expected completed next years meet i think...)
Evolutions One (ETA: Well.. Sometime in years to come)
But what a real movie?
Not sure if anyone has watched 'Serenity' but the back story of the film reminded me very much of eve... Like they were onboard a battle badger, they operated in low sec empire/0.0 (Away from the Alliance(Concord)) etc etc
[Serenity] Also, the great war before the alliance?
[EVE] IIRC EVE lore, there was the Caldari-Gallente 100 year war and the Amarr invasion on the Minmatar before Concord came about (Technologies from each race)
Would CCP ever look into producing a movie?

this is a popular subject i doubt they would, mostly creative players make movies as you have stated
this has been debated for a few years now im up for it

Maybe not a full feature length as their's what 100,000 active accounts and not a big market? But maybe an hour long movie .. Downable from the website for what? ú10?
Im sure ú1,000,000 would be an okay investment lol
EDIT: Yes i know most feature length movies with action/sci-fi run into ú20m +

I think CCP has said they would be interested in a 'real' movie project in the future, but they wanted to add a lot to the story first. One way was books, like novels or short stories.

Do you know of any timeline for more 'lore' ? I think i read somewhere CCP has EVE:Events planned out till 2011 or a storyline out till then or something :) Would still be interested in books - I just think a movie would attract alot more to EVE?
And you know CCP want more RAMSAN's for their precious

What are these "books" you speak of?
It doesn't exist yet.. though they have published one or two short stories. Plus there's the Chronicles, articles, news etc, so the story is growing.

I think you would only need an ingenous player base with access to a digital camera, EVE Online, 3D-Max or Maya and some decent editing software. There's been some REALLY good stuff done in the name of fanfilms for StarWars and Batman.
A good capture would be showing a fleet comander on the verge of a mental break down with his anxieties possessing him meanwhile his fleet is being anhilated. You could do it with a single actor in a closet size room and minimal voice overs. You could even incorporate a "jump clone" who "has it together". The action shots could be directly from ingame or rendered through 3dMax or Maya; there's a good amount of time associated with creating models and textures.
I'm trying to access my old guild site with some cool fanfilm links but the damned "guildportal" server is down again!

I think a "Clone Wars" or "Aeon Flux" style animated series might be better. I'm not sure there's enough material for a full-length movie.

You people think too small.
Full length big budget feature films, with GOOD actors(not nessisarilly well known ones, just GOOD actors).
Multi-episodic, meaning an onrunning series of movies.
Hell, you could do parallel movies. Have one be about the pirates, and another be about the different navies in game.
Have a "Nice" pirate, whos in it for the money, and not the killing, ala Serenity, but with plenty of ass kickin.
have it be about a hauler, with say one Battleship and a few frigates, witht the attending pilots, a medical staff on the Battleship, and so on.
or do it from the navy's side, pick a Cruiser or battleship captain and their escorting frigates, and their battle against the pirates.
Hell, if done right(And I mean RIGHT) it could rival Starwars. I mean, Speilburg sure has screwed up his franchise.... well, that's another topic.
Anyways, it's been a long time since we've had some GOOD sci-fi movies/TV shows.
lets see.. Serenity... uhm... Well, there was Serenity..

Even though I know that a "true" hollywood live action EvE-movie will never happen, I think it's kinda funny to speculate about which actors could make an appearance in it if it were to happen:

Angelina Jolie: As a Minmatar hottie.
George Clooney: As a Caldari captain.

....ehm, I was sure I could come up with more, but apparently not. Oh well, at least the ones mentioned already have very fleshed out roles thought out for them.
But, let's here your suggestions for actors to play a role in a notional EvE-movie. 
As for what material an EvE-movie could be based on, why not the whole Sansha's Nation thing?

Wow! An EVE-Movie! Sounds like fun! I do these home movies with these Texas girls. All I have to do is tweak the 4 and half page script I have...erase that...put in more of this....hmmm...not bad, i think...in fact, I'll start production immediately. Here's a teaser:

(enter stage left an Amarrian woman: Denna, bound by two other Minmatar)

i am just starting to watch the firefly stuff.....but to me, bsg seems to make me want to play eve.....maybe not the current events, but the story of colonies who lose contact with earth and evolve separetely.
i think that an eve movie should start kinda like the intro........short blurb on the discovery of warp, then the colonizing of new planets and systems......the collapse and chaos, leading to the eventual discovery of the lost brethren.....with a "spirits within" cg animation.

Like the last line of the movie "Captain... Look at these sensor readings... somethings happening, something big ..." then the camera sooms into the wormhole beginning to collapse... Credits :D
