OK I just got a Cheetah. (yeah for me). What do i put on it other than a covert ops cloak?
And isn't it unfair that you need covert ops 3 before you can even fit the cloak to this ship?

Is it? Surely from Lvl 1 to Lvl 3 will only take a day or so, possibly less? (Rank 4)

I would help... but I only remember one time when I fitted anything extra to my Cheetah after the cloak and I swore I would never do it again.
Not adding extra equipment prevents me from succumbing to the temptation to fly up to people, decloak, and scream "Surprise!" in local whilst flying when drunk or on crash.
Interesting times await... |

Very simple ship to fit depending on what you want to do.
For travel, the most generic advice is 3 named nanos in your lows (for alignments in fraction of a second) and a t2 afterburner for some ok speed at times you might want it. The other mids depends. ECM is nice to try and break locks but you should never even be seen let alone locked.
If you want to find stuff, you need to jam a probe launcher in your high.
If you want to pop pods, you need a rocket launcher in high and a scrambler in mid.
The best piece of advice I can give you for this ship - use the hotkey (F1 for example) to initiate your cloak at every warp away from a gate the instant you see your speedometer move.
If you fly this ship correctly, it will be the only one you ever need.
Oh, and you CAN fly it and cloak with it with cloak level 1...but you cant fly with it WHILE cloaked. So it really only becomes valuable once you can fly while cloaked but at that point this ship is fantastic.

Edited by: 350125GO on 31/03/2006 14:14:48 Thanks for the advice it helps. I've got covert ops lvl 3 which means the cloak uses 200cpu leaving me with 50. So far i have 3 nanofibers in the lows, and the cloak. I have a MWD which i cant use yet, i tried an ab and cant use that either (not enough cpu or power). 3 days til covert ops 4...

I have a PDU and Coprocessor in the low slots. MWD, Passive targeter, Long range enhancement, Senor dampening and target disruption. And finally the covert ops cloaking device ... all works well

A cheetah needs covert ops 5 to do anything with IMO. It is nearly the hardest ship to fit in EvE, it bascily requires fitting modules in the lows to have a standard covert ops fit out and use all of it's mid slots.
For me the advantage of the cheetah is it's speed, so I always want 3 nanofibers in the lows to make the most of it's strength. I refuse to resort to fitting modules like the CPU or MAPC and give up the cloaked speed bonuses. The standard covert ops setup is a probe launcher and a covert ops cloak, after that I believe you are left with very little recources left to fit 4 midslots even with covert ops 5. I typically fit a ship and cargo scanner, rocket launcher, afterburner, and an offlined 7.5km warp scrambler.
I hate to say it to you, but unless you get covert op 5 you will have a lot of trouble fitting out this ship; and even then it isn't easy. The fitting modules make more interesting setups possible, but only at the sacrifice of the cheetah's speed.

Agreed on both counts. Although i compromise on speed/utility. 2 speed mods in the lows (either nanos, overdrives or one of each, faction if you're rich) and an MAPC mean you can do a bit more in the mid slots. I hate the low cap of the cheetah, so i fit cap batteries (small T2 and micro named) with an MWD (to get me away from something if i get decloaked) and an offline scrambler. High is a probe launcher, cloak and a 125 autocannon (also offline IIRC).

at cov op lvl4 cov cloak mwd, small cap battery, stuff... micro aux, nanofibers
small cap battery because the bugger warps such a short distance... i even trained warp drive operation just so i could warp further, makes imo all the differnce in the world.
anyway... its a bugger sticking a probe launcher on this thing, but in doing so you have the uber scout :) . -Fate is what you make of it. -Make your own fate using T2 items produced by The Fated
