Now that EVE has more players than ever do you find it more difficult to come up with names for your new alt or even something original? Trying to make an alt now and i've spent hte last hour trying to come up with an original name but no luck. Now i'm just going round the net trying to steal some other name or just rewording names already taken

i just take two random names i find on the forums or in local, then shove them together.

Few random name generators out there for table top and larp there usually good for alt names.

Uhm this is what I do (may not be the best for everyone)
go to the library,go to the history section,find a race from the past or present that interests you and read thru looking for a name that you like.
what does my name mean ?

People suggested a baby name generator, to me before. But what I did is this:
For my Amarr ALT: Looked for the names of ancient Greecian and Roman Kings and Warriors.
For my Achura ALT: Looked for the names of Japanise Samuries and stuff.

i usualy just type one letter after each other and keep trying until i get a good one. that said this name is the surname of a halfling pirate i once played in a DnD campaign.
my achura is named after a punk singer, and my minmatar guy has a **** name that we wont discuss.

I use song titles
Works pretty well and you can be sure it will be orignal if you have a good collection of songs.

You could use one of those Fantasy/scifi/etc name generators, just google it.

Not quite sure... lol, I think the first part is a L2 storyline but yea definitely caldari. Have no idea where the second part came from, prob an agent in the same station.

The problem with names in general is that no one ever calls you by your full name. So your name ends up becoming the first 3-4 letters of your name. Before Matty, I had Stinky Wizzleteets but all I got called was "Sti" or "Wizz"--what a bust! So I picked my names based on how they appear in chats.
Long live Matt! Sounds nice doesn't it?

Unfortunately this is all too true.
There must be five farking thousand variations of "Rei Ayanami", the vast majority alts. The same for any other anime character--Rei is just the worst.

Or just use a swear word in some really obscure language like Swahili or Tamil. How many devs can speak unusual languages so who would know?
Makes me wonder how many character names have alternate meanings in other languages.

I named my Ascura scientist roleplaying character "Natascha Flenk". "Natascha" because somehow I managed to make a russian-looking girl from an aisian bloodline and "Flenk" because I decided she would have a stupid last name that she hates.
