This was a bit special and has given me my wood back. It made me feel incredibly proud and incredibly small at the same time, the 'I was there!' aspect of Eve means we'll be re-telling the story of that time we accidently 59 enemy titans years after we stop playing this game.
Props everyone involved. |

So, a fight that should have taken 2.1 hours from start to finish actually took 21 hours out of peoples lives?
It actually takes me back to my old dial-up modem and BBS days, when I played a game called 'Trade Wars' that required me to make a move, log off and await other people in the system to make a move when they logged in, and so on. CCP has saved us from logging off and back on again in between moves though with TiDi, a tremendous achievement since dial up BBS gameplay to be sure!

It always amazes me how one organization can be so shizophrenic yet still plod on year after year. The contrast of this beautiful, incisive, and seamless effort with the arrogant and clueless hamfisting of the various third party and related eula rewrite disasters is utterly night and day. I don't understand how all these people operating under such vastly different ethos can function without turning CCP HQ into some post-apocalyptic lord of the flies devolution. CCP Best game developers. We ask, they deliver!
Besides, if I were CCP I too would have squirmed all over the place on a battle that both brought new resolve to existing players, new stimuli to the economy and a great press coverage which will perhaps bring in new subscriptions. Need more well-formatted linking.

yeah! because back in the day, or in any other current modern mmo, if you want to face off against another 2000 unique people, that could take days, or up to a week, with most pvp encounters in competing mmo's capping at, 40 a side... |

Sorry, I could have drawn the battle faster than it happened. It's only about as cool as if all 4 thousand players (which is probably only about 2k considering all the alts that were probably in there) got on a massive video conference, and held paper drawings of their ships up to the camera. They could then draw all the missiles, drones, and ammo flying back and forth while making cool sound effect noises. Would have been faster and more exciting.
Sorry, I don't consider tidi to be any sort of achievement. Yay! We can stare at .001 FPS for nearly a full day! What fun! Better to have left in the old tech and just crashed the node every time too many people got in there. Obviously combat isn't going to really work, so let us rely instead on intrigue and espionage. Or, you know, find a way to break up the stupid blue doughnut. |

People that weren't there having no clue how the server was performing is shocking.
Here's a hint even if it was playing at full speed it wouldn't have looked exciting because Titans and Supers move at a whopping 90-100m/s.
The dictors and small stuff were still zipping around quickly enough to get bubbles off (That's what I was doing).
And yeah I can totally see how the old way Eve handled this kind of fight would have been better. A black screen a crash, not being able to log back in and finding myself in a pod the next day was totally better than moving at 1/10th speed. |

Yes was an excellent blog, and I love the not so subtle links posted in everywhere emphasising how great Eve is and then the final link is to the 14 day trial. :) Excellent use of the news coverage of the battle of B-R5RB. Now they just need this blog linked on the main eve page so that prospective players can easily find it when they search for Eve and I am sure Eve will gain a few new targets,, I mean players. |

I presume that the game is still actually running at 50fps though, as the fps is handled by the client and not the server. It just means the server is processing the battle in slow motion, although the clients still run at full speed. |

TiDi doesnt affect FPS, the several thousand ships, 5 billion drones, hundreds of bubbles, and whatever else you can think of on screen, that obviously does.
People complaining about tidi, as little "fun" as tidi might be, if you dont want it, avoid these big events, like I did. |
