Hey guys,
I've been having a problem for a couple of months where whilst playing EVE my computer restarts itself. I have been monitoring this and found it usually happens just as or just after I warp. It tends to happen 2-3 times a night when playing. It's never happend on any game I've played before and I dont know anyone that have experienced this problem. Any advice on how to stop this as I fear it could leave me in my pod or a quick visit back to the station one of these days!

Make sure your not getting a Blue screen of death error, sometimes its set to not display it and just restart. It could be a graphics driver problem.
But i don't want to guess just yet... whats your computer spec?

File created 2006.03.29 22:45:56 <string>:598: FutureWarning: hex()/oct() of negative int will return a signed string in Python 2.4 and up
An exception has occurred. It has been logged in the log server as exception #2
This seems to come up often in my log file. any ideas?

I believe that error message is more of a warning to the programmers than it is a problem on your system. It's just alerting the programmers of how a function will work in the future.
Again, could we get your computer specs? I think it may be a hardware/software issue. ------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |

I'm guessing you probably have an audigy 2 sound card. Almost all problems with EVE and restarting are caused because EVE has a problem with the card.

I'm having the same issue here, i can't go for more than say 10-15min without it restarting. I'm just about to disable restart on sys error so i'll let you know if i'm getting a similar error.
The reason i'm posting is that i've only just started getting the error after i upgraded my machine. I've got an Audigy soundcard and have had ever since i started playing. In my old machine EVE ran without any hitches whatsoever. Now that i'm upgraded to a P4 3.2ghz, 2gb ram, Geforce 7900GT, it's crashing. So i don't think it's the soundcard. I've updated to the latest video drivers too, but to be sure it's not the video i'll be putting in some hours playing a couple of other games.

Check this thread for some Audigy related solutions.
They're worth a try at least ----------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |

I'm having the same problem.
its really starting to get a bit worrying as today i warped to a gate while tagged so i could assist in an attack, i crashed mid warp and my pc rebooted.
When i came back i found my ship with a bit of shield damage and i managed to get out of the gate before any further damage was taken.
I was lucky this time but the next time... who knows.

hi there!
i had this same problem once before and it turnt out that it was my processor over heating once eve was running. this was because eve was demanding a output of cpu usuage each time you click connect. i was using my desktop at the time so i removed the side of case and it seemed to be ok since it wasnt getting to hot inside, i now use my laptop and i get NO problems at all. hope this has put some kind of light into your situation.

Well, looks like i'm out of the woods now. It was the Audigy drivers after all.
I played another game for a while and found that after some time the audio quality degenerated. It didn't crash, but it sounded way bad. A quick automatic update of the Audigy drivers, no more problems.

A quick fix is to shut off the audio. I was having the exact same problems and I shut down my audio and now EVE works fine.
I just have to search for a better card now, and then I can turn my audio back on.

control panel/system/hardware/device manager... scroll to where your sound, video and game controllers are... open that and then disable the drivers associated w/ your sound card.
that's really the right way.
:)
unfortunately, this is not a fix for everyone.
