Current meta is dominated by armor caps and armor subcaps. Current implants, Crystal implants raise shield boosting. While armor provide a significant buffer. Almost every shield ship in game is vulnerable to EM damage and neuting. Natural resists for almost all shield ships EM is 0 so it is almost mandatory to include atleast 1 EM shield resist rig or module, armor ships have atleast 10-20% resist in their lowest resist.
While some might argue that passive resist is a great bonus for defense, the only relevant ships to do so have to gimp themselves greatly to get that high into shield recharge, and the cost is pretty great when most of the recharge modules affect capacitor recharge time.
In conclusion can we introduce some new skills or implants that reduce the penalty for shield recharge to capacitor or maybe some implants that are effective on capital ships like slaves are that can greatly improved survivability of said ships. Shield boosting should not be the only viable option for subcaps.

Sub cap, shield ships are really fine, its just that current large fleet FOTM is based around utility mids for omni directional tracking links. For PvE, shield is very popular. For PvP there are still many niches where shield is dominant; the vast majority of non-solo ceptors are shield buffer if they have a tank at all, solo and small gang fits are dominated by ASBs and Nano Shield. It is EXTREMELY rare for a subcap pilot to use slaves, even low grade, if they do, its typically an elite solo type, and in that really really really tiny niche, crystals are actually good too.
Cap ships is a massive can of balance worms, and I don't think we want to go there....
That said, a skill that reduces sig from shield extenders, akin to Armor Honeycombing (or whatever they call it today) would be cool, and fitting. |

If I remember rightly, PL have said that the reason no-one uses shield caps is the difficulty in replacing all the armour ones.
Well...
I guess we'll have to wait and see if the meta shifts on it's own. |

err first lets just ignore the neuting problem as shield tanks are the only ones that can activly tank without using any cap and then we'll ignore it because ALL shield ships have capless weapon systems too but other than that yea i totally agree that shield ships are worse off than armour ships when it comes to being neuted... oh wait!
as for the resistance problem T2 minmatar ignore that pretty much completely on all the others you can patch the hole and you regen damage for free stop moaning. in comparison it's impossible to passive tank an armor ship that won't die eventually to anyone in a noob ship or better armour tanks use vast amounts of cap to run on ships that generally need their cap for damage prop mods tackle and everything else you can think of to squeeze on there i'd be more than happy to drop my explosive resist of 10/20% for passive armour regen if it'll make you happy |

Also maybe a skill to reduce signature radius gained from shield extenders?

not long ago and peopel were whinning shield tanking to be overpowered compared to armor tank.
HInt.. its not the shield or armor.. its the metagame and the FANTASY perception of players that cannot think by themselves and need to follow other people trends.

I didn't get that. Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

PL already have a shield slowcat doctrine... following the trend set by the mighty TEST shield capfleet.
Shield battleships however will tend to get completely dumpstered by bombers, it takes far more bombers to bomb an armor battleship doctrine off the field.
Shield battleships can have certain niche uses, Black Legion still use Alphafleet Maelstroms effectively. Last time they used them they did manage to volley carriers off field, but then they got bombed to hell.
So if you wanted to see more large scale shield doctrines in use you'd probably have to come up with a bomb solution.
In any case shield ships see plenty of use for more mobile small scale fleets. |

Armor ships have an higher base speed bonus to compensate for the armor plates that will slow them down.
Shield ships have a lowered sig radi... oh wait, not at all actually.
Here is one of the problems.
The other is the lack of shield EHP implants.
EM holes are fine, imo. Signature Tanking - Best Tanking. |

Shield supercaps have more EHP than armor supercaps even with Slaves. Just sayin. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"
Never forget. |
