Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 31/03/2006 22:06:32 What exactly is the point in comparing MAXING skills with getting enough skills to use something? No arguments to counter the real topic of the thread?
And you cannot deny the fact that T2 missiles are MUCH easier to train to the level you need to USE them than T2 large guns. And 3/4 of the most time consuming skills along the gun path (small 5, med 5 and sharpshooter 5) do NOT support the large gun performance much if at all while both the time consuming skills in the cruise missile path DO directly support the missiles performance. So please stop acting like this is just a 'difference' and gun users can use their T2 weaps so much better when they get there. There is definitely a problem here, and if you don't see it you are so biased that it is impossible for you to take part in any kind of reasonable discussion.

I was wrong, I had one more thing to add before hanging up the spurs.
I'm a gun user, not a missile user. ----------

Gunnery skills required to use (and pwn with) Cerberus????
Anyway, I don't really care about this turre(n)ts v missles thing, but truth is a new Caldari (achura?) char who follows the kestrel/caracal/raven/cerberus path can and WILL be very good in the pwnage scale MUCH QUICKER than a dedicated hybrids (or turrets in general I think)) user.
P.S. Course that same guy may cry when Tier 3 Caldari BS comes out and is indeed a rail platform

You lose al grounds for arguement right there.
Heavy missiles are guided, torps and rockets arent, and torps/rockets don't benefit from target navigation prediction(or didn't last time I checked, pre-rmr), or guided missile precision, which would be req for heavy missile spec if the 2 types were 'balanced'.
Also. When you train Larger whatever Turret, you can use the short or long range spec (technically speaking). Torp 5, and the skills needed to get it, wold be entirely different than the cruise 5 reqs.
Sure, one of those would take as much SP as a large short range OR long range spec, but the turret to spec in both would spend less, much less time than the person getting cruise and torp spec.
Also, lets not forget standard missiles is rank 2. Frig missiles alone are a rank 2 and rank 1 vs a rank 1 already.

Yeah, because missiles can do 1500+dmg wrecking hits.

Yeah, because guns can do consistant damage.
