Is it just me? I'm able to download at normal speeds (5mb/s) off any other website. I've never had a problem with EVE client or patch downloads in the last 10 years so I'm just wondering what's up.

I can access the forums and main site perfectly fine, but anything off the CCP CDN I get an average of 5kb/s. It's not my PC, my phone, tablet and laptop can't download the same files either. Anything off Steam, Origin, Youtube, Twitch is perfectly normal so I'm at a loss to where the problem is. Test signature....forum not applying settings :( |

Horribly slow...
Been this way since Rubicon 1.1.
All other internet operations are full speed. Have yet to see this addressed anywhere. I guess the issue is too isolated. |

I am also experiencing download issues.
The patch download will start out normal, then slow to a crawl (a few bytes per second).
Eventually, the download fails altogether. This happens with launcher downloads and direct client initiated patching. |

Downloads from CCP have painfully slow for me too and has been for about 3 months now ranging from anywhere around 100 KB/s to 1MB/s. Happens with the patcher and offline installer.
I downloaded todays patch at 300 KB/s. In the past before the speed issues it was always a consistent 5-6MB/s

Download speeds averaged the same as downloading the update file directly from the unpublished location: http://content.eveonline.com/708191/EVE_Online_681196-708191_win.zip Interestingly, repair.exe noted a lot of files which needed repairing. I finally fixed the issue. The Realtek lan driver was the problem. I uninstalled the Realtek driver through the device manager and had windows use the generic driver that comes with Windows 8. I now get full download speeds.
I did not realize it at the time but this was also effecting all http downloads, while leaving Steam a few other programs unaffected.
So if anyone is still having slow downloads and you have a Realtek lan driver this might be your solution. People, who talk, don't know. People, who know, don't talk.

I am attempting to come back to eve... after 5 hours of downloading I'm at 21%.. .I mean this wouldn't bother me if I had dialup but I have a 24 meg line though att uverse in Reno Nevada. I tried the http download link and it was just as slow as the installer. I tried to download it on 2 of my other machines and had the same result... I think Eve is having a real issue. It seems they have been having this issue for a few weeks. I'm thinking I might be better off not getting back into the game if the support doesn't exist anymore. |

For me this problem still seems to exist as well.
Who is your ISP?
I have AT&T UVerse and this is a problem that seems to only affect me when I try patching from my home connection. If I connect through a VPN, tethering on my cell, or at a friend's house (who has Comcast) I get a patch download speed roughly in line with what the connection should be giving. |

Same problem here, U-verse in Louisiana; I'm almost done dl the patch but it took about 5 hours and it wasn't stable; over the last 30 min it went up 40%. It would get bursts of speeds then stop and repeat; it peaked at 90% then just stopped. Not all that convinced it will even work when it does hit 100%. It's reassuring to see that this thread is almost 3 months old and not a single f-ing dev has even acknowledged the problem because I just love wasting $30 a month for a game that hires devs to spend all day with their heads in their lap enjoying the smell of their own farts.

Same issues here - also a U-verse customer. Read through this thread and looked for the common denominator - called U-verse technical support and they do report 2 major service outages in different areas of the country which started today. I had no issues connecting to EVE yesterday. Problem started today. ATT U-verse technical support rep did not have any ETA on when service would be back up in the 2 areas of affected. If your data route to the EVE server passes through those affected areas then this might be the cause of the issues we are all experiencing. Nothing to do but just sit and wait for U-verse to get their act together. |

I've had myself a similar problem, slow to non-existent download speeds. While I downloaded the patch just fine earlier in the day... later on, my launcher would barely load up, and simply would not allow me to log in, or even simply do a client verification.
It seems the most common denominator here though is ATT U-Verse. I also have U-Verse, coming from the Houston Area of Texas, usually have insane download Speeds, much higher than what I'm even paying for in some cases... Until Today. Where Eve online has ground to a halt. I wish I could give a time estimation on my downloads (any of them, trying the launcher, and the offline installers) however, the download rate has more or less become un-measurable. |

Same problem.
I'm using the eve repair tool on Linux/Wine for patching. It starts to download a 750MByte Patch. Roughly the first 500 MByte of that patch download at 1MByte per second, then the speed drops to 7 to 12 kByte per second. Same thing repeats after restarting the repair tool. Again about the first 500MByte download fast, then it gets super slow.
I did a tcpdump to take a look at the network traffic and what I find quite strange is that the packet size of the incoming network traffic seems so small for a file download. The packets have mostly a size between 36 and 300 bytes small, maybe 150 Bytes on average.
I think that's quite odd. Usually I'd expect almost all packets having max size of 1448 bytes for my connection during a large file download. No idea, whether there is some sort of network throttling in place. I'm no expert. |
