Ban anyone using anything but a shuttle in space, that way there will always be asteroids to mine.
But then what about the lag exploits? --------------- I used to be in the FA. I like cookies. Eve Radio is teh pwn. |

Hmm, good point. Go by the CS Theory that 56kers lag the servers, even though they consume less bandwidth then broadband, so ban all 56kers..actually you may only play EvE if you have a OC192 connection and above.

Just one of the THOUSANDS of asteroids I've seen in 1.0 and 0.9 space.

Edited by: CLONE 9 on 14/09/2003 12:14:26 I agree with the main point of the post. If we're talking carebears - then lets take a look at the people with their BS's packed full of miner 2's safely carving out roids in 0.8 space.
So brave - so daring.
Honestly - take a look at yourselves - you're all pitiful fairy folk of the feminine persuasion.
And if you give me any of that 'It's my right to mine where I like' or 'my battleship is an elite mining technology system' garbage, you can cram it up your ass.

*this game made us mine *this game nerfs our weapons so we must mine *this game wacks our secu status, so we mine
actualy *trading is fuxored *bounty hunting is impossible *pirates spend more time looking at a gate then they did looking at astroids when they still mined. *Agent missions fck up your standings and reset all jesus crap when you press the wrong button.
In all eve = mining sim and, IMHO eve = mining sim = acount cancelation
go play a decent game lad, your still mining in 1.0, its enough time to run away to a real game now.. ____________________________________________________________

Thanks - this is without doubt the best line ever written on these forums. I wonder what else the game makes you do. Feel free to let me know - I'm intrigued.
No - I don't have a battleship. A BATTLEship. No I don't have envy either - I think the way everyone has jumped on Doobie is a sick symptom of a lot of carebears absolutely frightened that someone will take notice of the issue and kick you out in to space where you can be attacked without notice.
Bah! I bet if someone did pop your BS the loot would only be baby lotion and diapers anyway.

Wow... flames so high the Thunderbird 2 on top of my monitor is melting
But seriously though this was a rather silly idea but on second thoughts with CCP talking about sec hits in 0.0 space and thief tagging for boarding ships I wouldn't be surprised at anything now. -------------------------------------------

Edited by: Manfred Doomhammer on 14/09/2003 15:05:39 i guess the argument "its a BATTLE ship, so it isnt fror mining" is one of the top 5 lame arguments in the whole eve universe...
as i see it, i buy/build a ship, which then belongs to me... and what i do with that ship is up to me.... ALONE! i didnt lease or rent it, so if i want to paint it pink, mount miners onto it or shoot holes into it to convert it to swiss cheese i am free to go, and NOBODY has the right to tell me to do otherwise... fine, it was designed for battle... who cares, i make my scorpion the pacifistic boat of love if i want
normally i am used to forum lurking, but sometimes all that whining even disturbs my balance in the deepest pits ----

Hey genious, ever wonder why there are battleships mining in high sec? Its because they only need basic minerals, and high sec is the best place to do it.
- There are no/weak NPC Pirates. So they can concentrate on strip mining.
- Thats where their Original BP is, they don't want to risk moving it.
- Its empire space, they can easily buy anything else they need for mining/building.
And many other obvious reasons, if you can't see that, clone 9 you are an idiot. Why should anyone be "brave" when they can mine faster and much safer? Your telling me you'd prefer to do things the hard way just to show your bravery and intelligence?
"I will manually sharpen my pencil with a knife because I'm brave and super smart!"

Let's walk through this a second...
-I'm a battleship manufacturer -I need somewhere in the neighboorhood of 5 MILLION units of tritanium for EACH ship -My blueprint is in some 1.0 system
So if I want to stay in business, I need a LOT of tritanium. My options are:
a) buy tritanium from the market. Well I already bought out every unit of tritanium yielding ore, as well as refined tritanium in the 3 surrounding regions and only came up with 10 million units. It would take somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 people in frigates and cruisers mining constantly to supply me with what I need, and I'm just a lone producer. How much do you suppose a company like TTI would need?
b) mine veldspar in 0.0 space. Sure, this won't cheese off the noobs much, now nobody will buy thier noob ore. Not to mention I have to sit in some godsforsaken belt in 0.0 space, fight off NPC pirates, thereby reducing my overall yield. Then I get the pleasure of hauling all of this unrefined ore 20-30 jumps back to my production site...1 indy load at a time...
c) oh look! There's a system 2 jumps away with a station (refinery included) and scordite roids 160km across! No pirates, so I can deploy all 10 harvesters. I grab a corp mate who can run indy for me and all of a sudden I have enough tritanium to supply me for the next 2 days!

There you go Clone 9, more reasons why people mine low end ore in high sec, instead of 0.0, feeling stupid yet?

My corp makes battleships as well. You know another reason you'll find out bships out with mining lasers?
Despite putting up buy orders for veldspar at 4 per unit (which breaks down to 1.4 isk per unit of trit), the miners in the area insisted on delivering scordite for another manufacturer. Even after explaining they made more per industrial full of veldspar at that price than scordite.
I asked a rather knowledgeable miner why this was occuring. Her response:
Miners don't even look at veldspar once they get out of their noob ships.

As a full time miner, I can tell you that your friend is 100% right. I haven't mined veldspar since I got out of my probe.
Unless I find someone willing to pay a premium for veldspar (like you), it's just not worth the time.

The pricing at Everlasting Vendetta for internal mining deals means Veldspar is actually VERY profitable.
Combined with the fact it is easy to mine and easy to haul makes it a winner.

Veldspars high tritanium content means it should be more pricey.
It is VITAL for any large scale production.
