OK, I understand that CCP allows the sell of GTC's for ingame isk although GTC's are an outside game item. I am just curious to see if it is ok to sell GTC's for real isk on ebay or somewhere?
Player A buy's GTC's from CCP then sells to player B for isk. Player B then sells GTC on ebay for real $$ at a lowered price.
Any thoughts on this guys. Please on hard facts, not what you think is the rules.
(I dont plan on this myself but I am just wondering)

Its frowned upon, but yea thats a way to circumvent the EULA of this game. Of course you have no way to verify if the code is valid, and no backup in dispute cases on ebay. Risky business if ebaying.

It's about time GTCs got a place on the in-game market if you ask me.

Plenty of RL companies sell codes on eBay. I know a friend who bought a few--they are quite reliable.

Absolutely, but thats not what I ment. If I ETC scam on the forums, and sell you a dud, you then go on ebay and sell that ETC, not knowing if its a dud or not. Your buyer gets all ancy and wants his money back, you give him his money and its after costing you $5 in ebay and paypal charges. Therein lies the problem. There is no way to verify an ETC bought via isk (unless the seller is reputable) that the ETC is genuine.
It just gets very messy.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

Hope that CCP never releases a web interface to check, if a gtc is genuine and unused. If you sell an invalid code, it's against the law. If someone sells you a code for isk, the only way to check it is to use it yourself. If you resell it and it's invalid than it can lead to a lot of trouble for you. I like it.

It's against the law to knowingly sell an invalid code. That's the difference.

Edited by: Lisa Run on 03/04/2006 03:19:17 ok, but if a timecode doesn't work, because it says it has been used already, you run into the trouble to prove, who used it. The seller, the buyer or a third person ? The exact time might be a hint, but it's no proof and only CCP knows it. If they help somebody, who's involved into a isk->gtc->dollar trade, don't know. Somehow I hope not. This insecurity keeps some people away from abusing the system. ___________________________ ! Post under construction ! |
