I would like to see a bonus on ships that only applied if you were of that race.

Yep, and gimp everyone else. Half the fun of eve is that anyone can do anything. Racial bonus's are in the attributes. ---------------------------

Any real reasoning ? Who is 'everyone else', and why would they be gimped ? I guess you mean you would feel gimped? Perhaps because you fly a raven (happens to be a not-so-wild guess normally) ? Please speak for yourself. Don't pretend to be others' advocate.
Well, admittedly I know what probably would happen and why many players wouldn't like any change like his. So yeah, there'd be whining galore. Amusingly also by those who, more often than not, tell others not to whine. Also by those who so smartly tell others to 'adapt' whenever they can, whenever there's a reason. Wouldn't this just be one thing to adapt to ?
I say half the fun is not only to do what you want but also the fact that there are varieties and not everyone is the same. Racial uniqueness makes sci-fi content interesting and exciting.
Yes, this should've been done right from the start. Now it is kinda too late.
But new ships with racial bonuses could still be introduced. No gimping there. Considering war is comming, this would even be in line with faction politics. Securing advantages for the own side and making it harder for the opposing side respectively.

There are a heck of a lot of pilots who are on the "other" side of the conflict. Standing-based would be far more logical, AND you could do something about it.

Agreed. while there is something to be said for the inherant traits specific to each bloodline, the diversity within each bloodline is grater than the diffrence between them. aka, we're not all that diffrent, genetically; with possible exceptions of the Jove.
Psychologically, yes, are rather strong diffrences. But an Amarr can learn to think like a Gallente, and vice versa. Thus, standing would be a better indicater of what sort of bonus one should gain.

Hm, I guess that boils down to a similar effect, plus it leaves room for personal choice. Yes, it makes sense. I could settle for standing-based, although I'd like to see chars fly their own race's ships for atmospheric / roleplay / background reasons. A tad more rp wouldn't hurt EvE. Just any kind of real decision and commitment, less complacency.

The Devs would NEVER do this. PvP is the biggest part of eve and most characters fly other races ships. If you made it so that ships get race specific bonuses that would stop make it so any players that specialized in another race would then become less powerfull than all of the players who live in that race and use their ships.
If you did this you would have to make it possible to switch races. I personally and probably 90% of eve PvP players would quit eve. I am a caldari and only fly amarr ships. --- Wolven Elite Guard - Currently recruiting |
