Try to use Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy, then come back and talk more about it. ----------------

XP Professional FTKindaW... if Microsoft didn't suck... but it's still better than Home Edition...
Also, (stupid question) are you making your processor run slower on purpose? (yeah, yeah... thus the stupid question statement...)
It could just be going bad... --- --- --- ---

I put three 'spanders on my Badger but he couldn't get back into his brock, he was too bulky, on the plus side he could carry 50m3 more acorns to eat than before...

You know the only difference between XP Home and Pro is Pro has some extra networking options? Other than that it's the same... I haven't got a new sig yet :)

Run msconfig and shut down all the crap running in the background.
For online games I tend to shut everything down except for the firewall.

Hmmmmmm... tried spybot? How many processes do you have in your Windows Task Manager? Typical systems have between 30 to 50 processes running on average. Check what processes use the most CPU and memory even when you are not doing anything much, e.g. only web browsing. ----------------

I would agree on the MSConfig and say that one should check it every so often when you install new programs. Defragging the drive can help to an extent you might also look into increasing the size of your paging file if you have the hard drive space for it. In additon to this when running Eve kill any programs/processes that use an 'excessive' amount of memeory. 'Excessive' being a value that you deterimine is acceptable. This includes that bugger of a file explorer and desktop system "Explorer" you can start the client and then kill this proccess play and when you need your taskbar again just stat a new process called "Explorer"

Mike Lin has produced an excellent pair of programs called Startup Monitor and Startup Control Panel. I cannot recommend them enough.

Yeah, but he asked for suggestions ... Oh, and Pro is better for Gaming I've found. Home Edition liked to shut down my games, and I'll never know why... but, Pro runs them fine and dandy. --- --- --- ---

try out a program called TuneUp Utilities and run the hard drive cleaner, regestry cleaner and regestry defragmenter plus have a bit look at the start up list and turn off any unwanted programs, that might help a bit.
