I'm graduating from L2s and looking for an L3 agent. But I want to avoid low-sec at all costs.
How do agents decide where they send you? Is it based on their station's sec or proximity to low-sec systems?
Will a L3 agent in 0.9 send me into 0.4 one jump away?
I've tried two 0.5 agents already and they both sent me to a neighboring 0.4. |

You might want to try in the mission forum, or someone here might be able to give a more detailed answer:
I have no idea but you can google stuff I spew to see if it actually applies.
I recall reading that your agent mission distance could be affected by the standing with the agent.
Agents could also be 'trained' into only offering you certain missions ( or more specifically into not offereing you certain missions ) over time when you would decline that mission.
Storyline missions agents location will affect your travel plans when grinding because you actually only have a few per region ( I think )
Heres to hoping any of that helps.

If you're NEXT DOOR to a lowsec system, you're gonna go there pretty often. If you're 4-5 jumps away (or farther) then you probably won't go there much, if at all.
seems that they send you in a 5-10 jump radius or so (sometimes farther if a lowsec system breaks your travel route). |

If you name the faction or corp you want to run for, somebody might be able to give you an answer that is actually helpful. |

I don't see a rule against posting twice, as the question is relevant in both topics. There is a rule against non-constructive posting, however...
Anyway, thanks all. Seems everyone's mileage varies, which answers my question. :) |

In regards to combat missions, they tend to stay within your current constellation, or adjacent solar systems. As already suggested you should try to find a system with no nearby low sec systems.
Courier missions are a bit different, as it is the level of the agent, that determines the destination of the mission. For more information on this, see Courier Missions Revamp
