This first part will detail how to lure the stupidest of players and scam them - I.E The wannabe exploiters. This is the first part of a series of two.
Firstly, you need a bait. What some of you may have heard from my alt a while ago, was that I had discovered a method to dupe items using secure cans. Another nameless indivitual, belonging to a respectable corp, verified the process, by having me dupe his frig BPO, and then his battleship BPO. Within minutes, I had a number of people began trading me their BPO's and HAC's in order for me to dupe them. Of course, what the people did not know, was that this nameless individual who built up peoples confidence was also my alt.
In reality there is no dupe Approx 2bil richer, I relised that scamming wanabe fraudsters made me more money in roughly 40 minutes, than a full day of scamming the old fashioned way.
Of course, people are stupid, but first of all, to carry out a fake dupe scam, you need to;
1. Add an incentive for yourself. Let the wannabe scammers know that you will carry out a dupe in return for 10% of the duped item's value. Haggle this up or down, but ensure that the victim thinks he is getting a good deal. This actually means that they understand you are there to benifit out of this. 2. Vow of secrecy. Ensure that the victims know that if this gets out, then someone will fix the non-existant situation. 3. Dont be stupid and mention things like dupes in local, that will attract GM's time which is better spend on genuine issues, rather than investigating a scamming hoax. You deserve to get banned if you do this. I personally will expose any hoax if the idiots mention it in local. You WILL do the same. 4. Modify my statements to fit with your situation. Repeating the below statements will get your found out quicker than a pirate in Gyerzen
To Start with, mention in local something like "Goodness, if this got out, everyone here would be millionares.... no billionares! We must keep this a secret"
This will attract approx 1-2% of the locals to invite you to a convo or even your alt. It is here that you get the person to promise/swear etc etc not to tell anyone if you tell them. People being naturally curious and greedy will ask what the situation is.
Now remember startrek? Remember how you invert the plasma warp coils to occilate the vector of the tractorbeam, in order to cook a muffin? All that facy talk is your friend. Make it seem realistic.
E.G "Putting items in a certain contairer, followed by 'x', 'y' and then repackageing, will result in the item being duped AND remain in the can!"
Your victim will ask what exactly x and y is. This is your trade secret. Create a channel and put all the victims together. Lemmings like to jump together you know.
Now get your alt to test the water with a cheap BPO or item. Have him say that it indeed works, by linking the items in question in the chat channel. Refure to accept any isk. Do a bit of social engineering, and your victims will start to give you there items. No Items? Well, there is some hacs for sale here, just saying thats all :)
Once you get the items - go on the run. :) -- The Scammers Cookbook |

This ought to work, until a GM catches you that is. In which case I hope you dont like Eve much. Even threatening to cheat is bannable. -- Rells

Edited by: Macro Media on 04/04/2006 14:09:42 As far as the EULA states, pretending that there is a exploit to scam players trying to take advantage of a fake exploit, is not bannable. If it is then I will remove the above guide. IF anything, it actually steers people away from exploits :) -- The Scammers Cookbook |

If what he was doing is bannable, Viceroy would have been banned for his infamous SuperSafeSpotbuster 2000 v2.3!

Heck, people are saying that my Rebirth has made me even more evil. Muhahahah
With that said, I looked at my old history. I first became well known by totally scamming corps out of hundreds of millions by the "Inside Man" Ore Theif jobs I used to pull. Nothing beats the satisfaction of stealing hundreds of km3 of ore by becoming the hauler, and when the corp finds out that nobody is getting their share...... Oh the Pent up RAW ANGER.... the emotion...
TO be honest, I cannot find another scam that brings out so much joy! -- The Scammers Cookbook |
