Another potentially obvious answer, but I could do with clarification ...
When a ship gives a bonus "10% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret optimal range", that's Blasters AND Rails right?

yes. but it will be less useful on blasters

Thank you. I was 99% sure but wanted to bump that to 100% before I went and bought a shipload of blasters!
Edit: To Hippoking ... Yeah, fair point, but I was just pondering a Ferox setup and that would help get out of large smartie range while maintaining closer to optimal blaster range. Just toying with setups ... keeping a "cookie cutter" setup is exactly what people expect, so I try to think outside the box.
Unfortunately outside the box usually means "outside my ship in a pod"!

Eagle blasterboats are used often.
That additional range really helps lay the smackdown.

The Harpy has some saucy blaster potential too!
Potential for 100% extra optimal range and 25% extra damage could be nice.
Edit: Which is exactly the same as the Eagle as you pointed out. Doh!

just fit missiles dude u never have those blody problems. be caldari, like evry one else is.

They both have their places. Mix it up and keep 'em guessing my friend!
I have to say I like the "instant" feeling that comes with guns, and you can't beat the sound of an Apoc with 8 autos firing away.
That, and having 5 mill skills in Gunnery and sub 500k in Missiles

Really? I think the other way around. Blaster Eagle can do 17km optimal on heavy neutron II w/null quite successfully, but blaster Harpy can't do a range long enough to be truly useful.
