By the gods, you lot are two-dimensional.
You really think an individual is solely defined by their loyalties? Not their family, upbringing, friends, relationships, experiences, and so forth?

Mr. Inhonores has been indoctrinated by the Federation military to be a subservient instrument for their whims, and thus no surprise to see this individual reach such conclusions. In this example we witness the sinister nature of Imperial authority, to control an individual while instilling the notion they are free to make their own choice. As an alleged defender of freedom and individualism from the might of Nation, I find it rather ironic how similar your behavior is to that of a common drone. |

I fear Seriphyn is...not so elegantly trying to illustrate a point from a conversation he and I had.
I believe it is only natural to have some affinity, some affection for something you grow up with and enjoy a relatively good life with. In this case a nation, but really it works for many other things.
I was born in the Empire and I've lived within it nearly all my life. I'm the daughter of a moderately successful businessman and a local civil servant. My childhood was good, I was taught and taken care of and loved. Amarrian society provided me with an opportunity to learn and grow and eventually become gainfully employed on commercial vessels. A corporate sponsorship, that I can only assume is somewhat subsidized by the Empire at large, provided me with the opportunity to train and eventually become a capsuleer. All things considered, I've had a good life and I have to at least partially attribute that to various policies and standards within the Empire.
Naturally I don't like it when I hear people wishing the whole of the Empire would burn. Naturally I have some pride in the Empire because the majority of experiences I've had within it have been positive. Naturally I'd probably chose to work for the Empire because of this.
So, I believe Seriphyn is saying much the same thing, for his own experiences of course... as I very much doubt he spent his teenage years in a convent. |

It's not nationalism, it's ignorance of something better... or just plain laziness. Either way I must agree, your post is vague and without much merit, save as an illustration of what corrupt governments do to people.

For one, it's selfish and futile.
What you Star Fraction rebels fail to understand is that you are just nationalists of another flavor. The moment you organized into a group and expressed a common cause, you became a nation. Your end goal may be a world without such constructs, but to attain it you have adopted the very tools you vilify.
To live for no nation is to live for no cause, and without a cause a man accomplishes nothing. |

Selfish AND futile. Let me ask you a question. How can you love anybody else if you do not love yourself. How can you achieve anything if you cannot count on yourself first and foremost?

Its an extremely convenient Canard that one. That anarchists are not allowed to cooperate for mutual benefit. How the creatures of empire must wish it was true. But the truth is otherwise, anarchists and free traders manage to cooperate and organize as equals without one ruling over others and gain independence and self-respect through these means. Perhaps one day you will witness a council of Free Captains and know how powerful a group of individuals can be when all are equal and pay each other the respect of sovereign individuals rather than continue the twisted stuff of master and servant under the stars.

No gods no masters, no nations and no chains. We are all the children of humanity. Some have gotten sick on the warped dreams of hierarchy but in time they will recover. My cause is to teach you how to embrace freedom and unchain yourself. Since you and a billion others like you are slow to rise from your knees and see the future that beckons to us all.

I am of no consequence. I love myself as I love any man who serves the cause of my nation. I would gladly die for that cause, which is the only true measure of love, in the end. Would you?
If so, then you are bound by the chains of an idea just as much as I.
If not, then you are a selfish child who will leave no mark on this world.

Perhaps one day, but I doubt it. I am enough of a student of humanity to understand that what you envision is an impossibility. We are competitive creatures by nature, and some chains do more than just bind us. They DEFINE us.
You suggest that those chains need not exist at all, but you are naive, Jade. Without a cause, without a nation, without the chains that allow us all to pull together, humanity will not be moved.

You are a natural leader, Jade. That is plain to see. If only you had more faith in yourself, you would not be so afraid to be the leader, the master, that you so obviously already are. The chains of so many are firmly in your grasp, and yet you refuse to admit it. Until you do, those chains will pull you every which way, and you will still be on your knees yourself. |

Greed is a cause, perhaps disguised as a motivation.
I do not believe that just because you are born of a certain nation, that you can only serve that nation. CAIN supports the Caldari way of life, and we employ people of many different races who share our vision.
Intaki are born in Gallente space, but they are not Gallente, they are Intaki.
Perhaps the lowley worker on a distant planet might not know the cultures of the many different worlds in New Eden to choose who they would want to be, but one managed to take over the greatest State in New Eden so I do not discount anything. |
