am i wrong to assume that the elite battlecruiser would be just as viable if not more for lvl 4 missions as a battleship? Due to its resistances etc ?

Your issue is not the comparison of the tanking abilities between the two but the fact that the Ferox cannot put out enough damage to break the tanks of the level 4's without massive weapon specializations.
I can tank forever on these missions in my Ferox but have not been able to complete several level 4 missions because the named NPC's regenerate faster than I can deal damage.
I have level 3 in Heavy Missiles and XR-3200 launchers. I think raising this to level 4 and moving to Arb Heavies would still not be enough.

well lets say i speced for heavies and had the important skills to lvl 5....would it still not be viable ?
the elite versions of the ferox has a nice bonus to heavy missile damage.

lvl4s in cerberus > BS
n-hawk woudl probably be about the same, maybe slightly slower

I got Sleipnir and taking missions better then in Tempest, I just feel that way.
I need to give a try on the same mission with both ships and see which was faster and 'easier'

i dont know about ferox, but i can kill most named rats even on level 4 missions with my cyclone. the problem is that my tank is not good enough for some missions, so i guess with the Tech 2 BC resistances, i could do it.
sometimes i have to switch to autocannons, since artilleries dont have enough DPS for some rats (mainly some angel centurions i think, with 73% explosive resistance as lowest resistance of the four)

I've just started using a Nighthawk for lvl 4s. The mission with the most rats, that I've had so far, was Pirate Slaughter. The Nighthawk did this with ease with this setup:
6 heavy launcher II
1 corpum nos
10mn ab II
gist amp
gist b-type large shield
2 shield hardeners
4 pds II
1 bcu II
The shield needn't be on permanently (infact, not much at all), but with 4 pds II the cap recharge rate enables it.
The only drawback is the time it takes to pop the battleships, as seen here.

Yes it can be done quite easily, infact its easier to do it in than a battleship, as the vast majority of lvl4 missions contain more cruisers than BSs which are harder for BSs to take out. infact the only Bs i have a problem with is the mammoth on mordus headhunters
