I recently got a nice lvl3 agent and thought I'd save some time using the bribe option (mostly because of the 14 minute gap between missions.) After two hand-outs of 500k, the rival faction standing had plummeted about 1 point.
I thought the bribe was between me and my agent, an under-the-table deal? It would be great if we had this loop-hole to get better agent standing without suffering the rival faction loss. But then perhaps noone would do missions. Hmm.. Any comments?

just wondering; what standings did the bribe have possitive effect on? agent, corporation, faction or all three of them?
oh, and i agree with what you said. a bribe should be 'secret', or at least give less of a standing hit than doing actual missions. or they should just change the name from bribe to something else like 'public donation'.

In my experiance bribing gives to faction, and agent standing towards you... :) |

I think that bribes should only influence the agent and the corporation. I also don't think that black market agents should tell everyone in the universe that you're using their services. If I buy a slave or illegal boosters I really shouldn't lose faction all over the place since it's a SECRET TRANSACTION.

The transaction is secret, the result is not and I dont think should be. One race generally likes you more, that cant be hidden. The other race notices this. The reason *Why* your rating improved can be secret if you want it to. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

Edited by: Ayar Cachi on 17/09/2003 01:55:21 Plus, guys like Luther snitch on you, making the "rumour-net" encompass the entire Eve star cluster. Frigging snitches...nothing is secret for long, what with all the factions and corps spying on each other.
And Rumors are like tachyons, they travel FTL and it's hard to prove their existence (harder, since rumors don't yield Cherenkov radiation?)
