Lot of people brag with "woah 100234234234 dps" but without calculating resists in. Average resists of 70-75% (common numbers) and you are back with somewhat like 200-400dps Those peeps like to put wrecking hits from shooting debris into their sig, too - Veto. ftw!
Ithildin	Posted - 2006.04.06 14:14:00 - [12] Brutix with full rack of Neutron II, 4 dmg mod II, and Void ammo, although using no drones, hit about 770 per second on hull (using my skills, which are high enough). Other ships that can reach these sort of damage levels, without counting drones, are: * Astarte (blasters) * Absolution (pulse) * Armageddon (pulse) * Megathron (blasters) Whether these setups are good enough to do combat in, or if they sacrifice too much is a different matter. P.S. Note how, contrary to popular belief, a Deimos cannot reach 700 dps (regardless of fitting!) without the use of drones. Can't say how much with drones, though, since Quick Fit doesn't seem to want to calculate with drones and I'm too lazy to count manually. Arkanor > Gallente missileboat might be cool. KilROCK > Pod yourself till you got no skills.

The dps is a damage/time ratio, often computed as an average over a fight ending within the clips of the weapons, or over an infinite fight. It's usually an average, but there's nothing (but math) preventing you from computing a derivative of the first order at any point of time (we then do not consider an average anymore). As the damage over time is not a continuous function for t > 0, the derivative doesn't exist for each and every time t > 0, which is the limitation mentioned above. For t > 0, dps can be arbitrarily high (but not infinite, ah). T = 0 is a particular case, as the function is continuous "from the right". There can then be an infinite dps, but each and every ship dealing any damage will do such infinite dps, so this doesn't carry much information. Over an arbitrary very short period of time, the ship with the highest dps is the ship with the highest volley damage, so there are circumstances under which the arty tempest does the most dps (despite its dps - average dps - would be relatively low when computed on basis of the usual formulas). But for most ppl it does 0, coz they cannot/(don't/unable/gimps setup/yada yada) fit neutrons. However neutrons are THE guns for the thron. Damage increase from ions is not much, but 1. guns are cheaper, 2. burst damage is killing wcs *****s. Die, die, die.
