Edited by: Barak Smaug on 06/04/2006 16:12:11 IS there any use to fit a tractor beam and an afterburner on a caracal for lvl 2 missions?

just put an afterburner if anything, you want 5 missile launchers in your high slots

all right thanks for your advice, i was just wondering about time effieciency in realtion to Ab and tractor beam. AB still doesnt make me go very fast and a tractor beam means i dont have to move much when im fighting

Tractor beam is far superior for loot collection but I definately wouldn't sacrifice a missile launcher for one. I would (and did) use an AB.

Hows this.
the TB only pulls can in at 500m/s.
Does your AB move your Cruiser faster then 500M/S?
Which will be faster then.. :)
AB takes a mid, TB takes a High..
myself, i'd got AB on a cruiser, and TB on a BC.
demand is greater then supply = high price.
supply is greater then demand = low price.

Edited by: Tolvar Thurvil on 06/04/2006 20:59:31 Another option also valid if your agent and mission is in the same system (or closeby): drop the TB, drop the AB for other module that might help you better in the mission and focus on finishing the mission/staying alive.
While doing the mission don't loot anything that is not immediately close to you. Bookmark the location of any of the cans (bookmark more in case of deadspace complexes, one bm per level). When you are done get back to base and finish the mission. Get a ship with better cargo (e.g. a hauler with all the lows nanos is pretty fast, but you could use other), fit a MWD and as many TBs as you want (or can fit). Get back to the BMs positions and loot at will (no deadspace so MWD works).
This way you can get all the loot without discarding anything and u can use MWD/TB without sacrificing firepower or defensive slots. Try it once and you'll see how fast u do the missions and collect the loot :).

Another option when you're low on cargo is to drag a jetison can with you when picking up loot cans in a fast mover. Move fast to the different cans with the jetcan following you (max 500m/s so don't get too far away from it) and drop all the loot in the can. Then bookmark location, get hauler, tractor in jetcan, empty all and warp off.

If there's that much loot to pick up, nano a badger II, come back after you finish the mission and loot. Its much quicker and better than messing around gimping your mission setup.

I agree with the last poster. Don't gimp your setup to collect cans. Do the mission, BM the cans - you have an hour and a half or so to collect, keep running missions then go round once an hour with something like an exequror with 4 tractors and collect it all Some of the lvl4s have rather a lot of loot so for them put in 3 named expanders and a giant can for the extra room
