Indeed make scramblers affect it.
But also have built-in siege mode as it's firepower/survivability (if you exclude the doomsday device) looks crap on paper

Edited by: Valea Silpha on 06/04/2006 17:34:24 Titans don't have problems atm if you ask me.
They aren't meant to be combat ships in any capacity. They are meant to be akin to the 'craft worlds' of the WH40k universe.
The idea is that you have a butt load of resources and equipment there, and it can defend itself to a limited extent, but its not really a military vessle. Its a home from home and they should be take-outable.

Well, lets look at the guns...
42.5 x damage bonus on a large railgun battery. (Kill BS's quick) Small railgun battery 42.5 x damage bonus (kill frigates really quick)
The reasoning behind it, is IMHO the titan should wtfpwn anything battleship or smaller, it should take cap ships to take one down.
No one is going to put these things in a fleet fight as it stands now, ever... They'll sit at a pos or cloaked at a deep safe, decloak, sucide cyno frig, superweapon. That's it. If you could put POS guns and drop a 30 battleships it'll be worth investing a 100 billion. Fear the Ibis of doom. |

If you read the post, you'll see where I say interdictor bubbles/warp bubbles will keep it from going to warp.
The point of the post is, whoever trains for one of these is going to be doomed to taking care of it. Right now it's a logistics ship, it will be used to move fleets, jump clones, and move massive amounts of supplies to a POS.
The only time it should ever see a hostile ship is if someone warps to the POS it's sitting at. If it ever comes within a 100k of a hostile ship outside of a pos, it will prob be dead. Fear the Ibis of doom. |

Craft worlds are uh... slightly larger than titans. Also, I doubt that you'd take a craft world out without another eye of terror type incident. A craftworld would have literally thousands of seers onboard (and likely a farseer or three), I doubt you'd get anywhere near one without a bunch of guardians being called up to defend it...
I mean, if things got really bad they'd just a webway to get out - a bit like a capital ship jumping but without any limitations... --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

the whole capital thing sucks i runed the whole pos thing and eco stuf. its just oh they come with 10-50 captial ships take over our station we just wait till they are gone and then well take it back.
and pos are not even worth defending! the ships to defend it cost more then the pos itselve wich u can just haul expensive stuf out of it.

In order to make sense, anything able to scram/jam a titan would need to be massive (xlrg) in order to overcome the Titan's systems. Can you imagine how hard from a physics standpoint it would be to web something that large?

This is an awfully large gun for a logistics ship don't you think?
You're right though, this isn't a frontline ship at all. But it is heavily associated with fleet battles and can't always have the luxury of a POS. It makes sense that something so expensive and so massive should require something more than basic modules to scram it.

Just bump the damn thing with an inty.
Or have someone bubble the damn thing. MS and Titans are affected by interdiction spheres iirc. Such massive ships should not be so easily countered. A Titan's jump/warp drive and engines are probably several times larger than a BS. that's abit too big to affect with a simple web or scram imo.
But if you want to see a cool effect, web a station, one where you won't get popped (like a GE bonus war installation).

Originally by: Boonaki The reasoning behind it, is IMHO the titan should wtfpwn anything battleship or smaller, it should take cap ships to take one down.
No it shouldn't. You want max firepower, you get a dread (in theory). Titans are not massive blob-killing machines, unless you pop them with the doomsday weapon that is.
You can wtfpwn a BS or smaller with a Titan's abilities. Hell, you can wtfpwn a blob of 200 BSes, just how much power are you asking for?
A BS is going to have less chance of killing a Titan than a frig has of killing a BS. Captial booster/repper and hardeners vs a BS, not even close.
Sounds like you got your wish really. The Titan has the means to pwn an indefinite amount of ships, move an ENTIRE armada instantly (that'll be useful to move those massive dread groups as well I bet), clone jump people in for rapid deployment, give so many gang bonuses that not fitting warfare links on it would be a crime, and it's immune to ewar, and requires bubbles or interdiction sphers to keep from warping away.
I wouldn't mind seeing them get more hp to reflect their 'station'ness, but they have all the firepower they need really. Complaining because they can't use POS guns to do as much/more damage as a dread in seige mode is a tad...excessive.

Rumors of a couple being built, my guess would be ASCN.
30 battleships will drop a titan in under 45 seconds.
My only point of view is it should take cap ships to kill one.
Imagine a Titan on Titan fight between two alliances, 50 battleships on each side, 10 dreads, and 20 carriers just going at it for 2 hours. It would be Epic.
As it stands now, it would be battleships in the frontline, carriers at the pos, dreads at the pos, and guess where the titan would be, yep, the pos.... Not very epic.
