The final fase of EVE-Central has been completed this weekend. It is now possible for registered corporation to create their own News Items. Also, the ingame website has been expanded. The in-game website now also supports the Marketplace and the News section. The in-game corporation sites also support the Corporation news Items, and the corporate market sales.
The link to the in-game site is: http://evecentral.ractoc.com/ingame The link to the out-game site is: http://evecentral.ractoc.com

Well, I don't know about EVE-Gate, but EVE-Central has been an evolution which has been going on since I started playing Jumpgate Beta. which should make it about 2 years old in some form or another. The layout of the site has remained nearly the same, except for the background images. As for me being a webdesigner. I am sometimes. It's not the only thing I do, but it is part of my job. (I also program Java Server applications.) But I am a programmer fulltime in some form or another. Lliandra aka. Ractoc Site Admin for EVE-Central |

Well, this is the first time I ever visited EVE-Gate, so as far as I know, I'm not the one who did the copying. I'm not accusing the guys from EVE-Gate though. If they did coppy my site, I would consider it a compliment. Cause that would mean other people found my site to be that good... Lliandra aka. Ractoc Site Admin for EVE-Central |

I though it would be a nice idea to give a listing of all the features currently available at EVE-Central:
EVE-Central consists of several part, most of which you see in the menu to your left. First the Forums. The Forums you will see as a visitor, are only those Forums that are marked Public. There are also Private Forums, but these are accessible only if you are a member of the correct Group. Private Forums are linked to Groups. If you want to apply to become a Groupmember, you must first become a member of the EVE-Central community.
Personal Messaging is a feature only available to Members. This feature allows members to directly send messages to other members. This is a great way to converse with your fellow members withouth making your conversation readable on a forum.
The News section is pretty self explaning, this is where you can read up on your EVE News. There's a little twist to this news section however. If you go to the news section, you will see a Replies counter. This is the number of times an EVE-Central Member has replied to that news item. When you are merely a visitor, it is only possible to read these replies, when you are a Member of the EVE-Central community however, you can place such replies yourself.
The Login and Signup sections don't need an explenation I think. There is however one thing with regards to Signup, although it is not mandatory to enter an E-mail address, it is higly recommended. Reason for this is that, any time EVE-Central has information for you, be it a PM notification, a Group notification etc., this will be send to the E-mail address entered in your User Data.
Once again the next item, My Data, is only available to members. This is where they can change their userdata.
The next item is the Market. This is where Members get to sell Items and anybody, Mebers and visitors alike, get to see the items offered. If you see an item you like, you can contact the person offering it, either in-game via EVE-mail, r out-game via their RL E-mail address.
Groups is where you can see the currently registered Groups. Groups can be anything, from Corporations, to just a band of friends, to entire Alliances. When a member starts a group, several things happen. First, a private Forum is created, with the newly created group as the only group being able to fiew its content. Secondly, an In-Game page is created. The link to this In-Game opage can be found in the Group Data page. The Group Data page can be accessed by the group owner via the Edit link visible in the main group page. This is also where the Group Usermanagement takes place.

Now let's ignore that EVE-Gate has been around for a year or two. What next? Dakkon's Den?

They are both common enough for it to be only coincidence. Although one is frameless and the other uses a three frame arch. The framed one seems generated. But between the two only slight color schemes seem "alike" and bearly the buttons appear to have only slight simularities, but operating completely diferent using completely different navigation. No comparison really other then they are both accessable on the Internet and both are EVE related.
But both are great

What's up with the huge charset and the oldschool menus?
All the angels and the puny men of god looked away... Frightened to death by the evil that was born on that day!

Well, the entire pooint of the site is to transmit information, not to be a disply of every graphical feature that can be achieved in a web-page. Sure I could have built the site with some fance hi-tech flash menybar, but what would that add to the website, other than slower browse speeds because of more data traffic being generated.
