If what happened to Trust is the risk of building the newest cap ships, why would anyone bother trying to build one now, unless it's a total secret, even from the rest of an alliance?
That little news article nearly lost my accounts. I wanted to be a manufacturer of the biggest and best. But not anymore.
I would have to agree, since aparently you would have to somehow build up so large a fleet and static defences just to guard the shipyards in the first place that people will notice whats going on no matter what and thats even before you buy the bp and other items and start the build process.

Well I just did a little research on jus exactly what it takes to build the titan and these stats seem impossible...
Aside from the year of training it would take for someone to fly it, just to build one would take another year...
Now...if your going to build the whole thing from scratch, hen you'll obviously need all of the blueprints for the capital ship parts....total cost=24,065,962,400
After that, you'll have to mine for another two years to get all of the minerals...ive only calculated the tritanium at the moment but for all of the parts it comes out to just over 3.2 billion tritanium
Anyways, assuming your going to buy capital parts, then it'll cost 50 billion
(All these prices are for the Leviathan)

Someone tell me if i'm doing this right.....
it says on the leviathan in the database that, for example, the capital propulsion engine takes 411,345 tritanium...now is that to build just 1 unit? or all 100 units listed there? if it is to build just 1 unit then yes it'll take around 3.2 billion tritanium but hopefully it isn't

Yup, just a single unit 
The idea of a Titan is that it takes a large amount of work for most alliances to build it, the amounts needed seem impossibly high, but when you have an alliance as a whole mining for the minerals needed to make one, suddenly those targets seem well within reach.

The mining for it wouldnt be the problem truth be told. As a member of a Heavy Industrial corp we can mine entire 0.0 belts out in 3 hours. Thats all the ore from the Merxocit down to the Veld.
Its that if you wanted to build it you would be putting nearly 100 BILLION of assets in one POS. Thats 2, maybe 3 weeks of solid alliance effort.
Which then makes you pick - do you guard it 24/7 in a one way in system or do you just act casual and hope that you dont have a spy in your inner circle.
