hey all, scimi pilot fresh out of basic logi training looking for basic tips regarding logistics
I have my ship in T2 mods except shield reps (i have the skill level but not the mods themself) and its currently cap stable. I am seeking the general basic rules of thumb for logi piloting in a fleet
ie i know i lock all ships in my fleet (10) so i can rep those who broadcast it, but what do i do with things like drones and my ships position during the engagement. Also do i need things like an AB (dont have one)
soo yeah basically any general tips and tricks for shield fleet repping, methods and strategies would be awesome - thanks |

Lets start with ur fit. Fit is clasic omnitanked passive bufferfit. It all depends on ppl u are flying with - especialy logis. U can put in AB and 2 tracking links. This will considerably decrease ur tanking capability so u have to be sure other logis will do their job fast and properly - its basicaly a trust issue. (in time u usualy find premade group where this will be possible) Normaly i would put on AB + 1 tracking link. There are 2 reasons for AB: a) speed tanking b) ore dropping in mining sites
Also for Assaults and HQs just put on as much tank as u can. Fleet doesnt need tracking links there anyway.
Regarding tactics. Always keep everyone pretargeted and in watchlist. Sometimes ppl dont broadcast so use ur own head. Custom logi overview settings help as well. Always join fleet comms! -> mandatory Just listen to FC and pay attention to stuff happening around u and u will do just fine.
Also join channel "BTL Pub" - shield incursion channel |

If you dont know how to use a logi in a pvp situation dont fly logi in a incursions they are almost one in the same and the last thing incursions need is a incompetent logi pilot |

Scenario: No high sec incursions. BTL people jump into a low sec system. Goons are in the system. Goons attack BTL. BTL bans every goon (understandable), and everybody allied with goons (I still don't get this.)
The thing that confuses me about BTL in this scenario is that they went into low sec and thought goons wouldn't attack them, and banned everybody even associated with goons based on goons attacking them in low sec.
I was a legitimate pilot assisting with high-sec incursions found in the BTL pub channel before this happened. I have Logi V (check my profile in my signature) and usually ran with 2x tracking links to be the best support to my fleet possible. Yet I am no longer welcomed because I'm in an alliance that is allied with goons....because goons shot at people in low sec. I'm very confused about the decision here.
Furthermore, I've tried more than once to contact the people involved in the ban, and have received no response. They won't even acknowledge my EvE mails.
I'm not saying BTL is a bad channel; in fact from my experience it is not. The community there is incredibly awesome and even the administrators that I did deal with were very helpful. But I am saying that I believe there is a hang-up in the system when people think they deserve impunity from in low sec and ban waves of people not involved because they got attacked attacked them in low sec.
I am saying that BTL pub is a good channel and good group. The reason I'm so bummed out about being banned from BTL is that I liked it there. It wasn't just the isk (though that's what initially drew me there) it was also the people there who are good people and make great conversation. Even when I was war dec'd and hiding out in 0.0 or running missions I would hang out in BTL pub and chat away.
So here is one bad thing about BTL: BTL is a good channel and you guys banned me. *cry* . |

Wait, you associate yourself with goons, and expect something good to come out of it? It's not just BTL. In this Eve, reputation of goons ranks somewhere between cockroachs and the white foam forming at the corner of your mouth when you're really thirsty. Everyone avoids those tards like the plague, why aren't you? By even being near a goon, you're guilty of stupidity, if nothing else, and stupidity deserves punishment. |

I found the following guide very helpfull indeed.
Not sure if the guy who wrote it is still involved as much as he seemed to be in incursions, but reading everything in that guide, including fits and skills really helped me see what was needed.

Banning all the goon-friendlies simply makes it harder for foolish hisec pilots to be led into a Goon trap with promises of "we'll help you with that low sec incursion, you can trust us." Once bitten, twice shy, and all that.

Goons were banned from BTL in February (if not earlier) mate
PS: Goons have been and always will be the biggest pain in the ass for highsec incursions. What they did makes skunkworks seem like a drop of water in the ocean (not talking about the lowsec incident, but so much more). quote CCP Spitfire

Well that's the consequence of being affiliated with the goons. Which alliances/blues are banned by the way? quote CCP Spitfire

as someone said go through the incursions site
but don't only look up scimi fittings - also learn what the ships around you are flying, and make yourself a little list of the effective hitpoints of the different ones. people don't always broadcast fast enough, you need to know what to keep prelocked |

Treat the goons and their friends the same way they treat other EvE players, ie like ice miners.. you chose your bed.. now lie in it... why not go run incursions with your goon buddies... oh wait.. they will just gank you for the KM..

A player does not need pvp logi experience to effectively contribute to an incursion (although it helps).
-Understand fleet mechanics -Have a properly fitted ship -Have appropriate skills -Informs the FC he/she is learning that particular role -Learn from mistakes
Is pretty much all is needed. |

At first I was doing the "fit AB for sig/speed tanking on the scimi" thing. But
- When you get targeted you'll get 2-3-4 webs on you, basically nullifying the"speed" tank - now you have 1 more free slot - fit tank in the place of the AB -keep your 2 TL's - you still move at 300 m/s enjoy the best of both worlds.
Below fits need max cap skills, max engineering and electronics
The fit becomes: [Scimitar, T2 reps + 2TL's | VG/AS/HQ] Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II
Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Tracking Link II, Tracking Speed Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II
Medium Ancillary Current Router I Medium Ancillary Current Router II
Light Shield Maintenance Bot I x1 Medium Shield Maintenance Bot I x4
To fit all that you need one of the below: * 2x Ancillary routers II * 1 X ancillary1 + 1x ancillary II + 5% PG implant (+3pg implant if your shield upgrades is at V)
Personally I went with 2x Ancillary II + 5%PG and can fit T2 reps, 1 TL, +AB if absolutely needed (needs faction cap power relays to be cap stable with all on):
[Scimitar, 1 TL + AB | T2 reps | AS/HQ] Imperial Navy Capacitor Power Relay Imperial Navy Capacitor Power Relay Imperial Navy Capacitor Power Relay Imperial Navy Capacitor Power Relay
Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II
Medium Ancillary Current Router II Medium Ancillary Current Router II
Light Shield Maintenance Bot I x1 Medium Shield Maintenance Bot I x4
+5% PG implant Can drop the named ab and fit a T2 one with shield upgrades V (which I keep putting off training...) |
