I've noticed some intresting views over the last several weeks that's of intrest to me. While 've been playing EVE since early December I've avoided a corporation and most polotics until recently.
Before I ask for some insight I would like to request potential posters to avoid flaming, trolling or bashing other players or corps. I'm intrested in a little history into what's become of EVE.
There's a few corporations that ring a bell when it comes to the recieving end of the stick. In a nut shell could I get some brief history on a few corps; Band of Brothers, Goonfleet, MoO?
There's been lots of obvious dissent towards these corps and I have no clue to as their envolvement within EVE.
Would someone from the various corps be kind enough to share some insight into their history and some objective reasons why they are loved or despised?
Thanks in advance,

BoB are one of the stronger/strongest PvP corps around, they won the Caldari Alliance Championships back in December and have recently decided to get the BoB war machine rolling again. If you look at the map you'll notice they're now contesting three or four regions.
Goonfleet are a massive corp made up only of t1 frigate pilots and lead by some vets who decided...well, that they wanted to lead a fleet of lemmings into a battle. Unless you have the greatest graphics card in the world, ever, don't fight them because the blob alone will cause you to die by graphical lag.
m0o were before my time but by all accounts were a legendary 'PvP' corp. The one incident I know of in quite a lot of detail is the killing of the only Gold Magnate ship in game. The ship was a prize given out from an Amarr event and was a frigate with the stats and firepower of a cruiser but the speed and maneuverability of, well, a frigate. It was a one and only ship, the only time there's ever been a one-and-only (well, there's also a Gallente hauler cruiser which i've never seen), and they blew it up. Which pretty much automatically gained them some respect.

Essentially everything anyone says, can be disputed. There is no truth in politics, only different people's versions.

Edited by: Calenth on 07/04/2006 22:02:54 We're a corp with (last time I checked) approximately 1600 members ( yes we run into game limit of 1300 problems. we consider ourselves one corp), most of whom have fewer than five million skillpoints. We live in Syndicate, in npc-controlled 0.0 space. We get a lot of attention because 1) corp full of newbies in 0.0 seems like a big target to people who don't know any better, and 2) small, "elite" pvp corps tend to find our swarm tactics very annoying to fight.
We do not recruit from the general eve population.

He's right. You first have to pay additionally to get access to the Something Awful forums. In theory it should keep out the retards.
Unfortunately, there are complete morons out there with credit cards. GoonCorp has a reputation, a good portion of it was garnered by a mere handful of dunces. ---

Not gonna give you a rundown on BoB as it would likely get flamed anyway, and Wranglers on the warpath, no sense getting your thread locked on ya.
I will instead just give you some advice. Hit the corp and alliance forums. Read. Believe about 30% of what you see, and try to keep an open mind. Much of what you see their may be propaganda. Some may be true. Some may be blatant lies. Some will be posting in character, while others just flame for the sake of it. After your initial headache, avoid posting, keep reading for a few months, then form your own opinion and jump into the fray.

And if you think this is bad, just you wait until you have two opposing fleets safespotted in HED-GP after an inconclusive skirmish.
That's one thing I liked about -V-, no smack. Not even a local window.

I think that believing about 5% or less of what you read on these forums would probably be the best idea.

I wouldn't say it that way. 5,BOB,SA,V had friendly standings / no interest to fight eachother for historical reasons. But there were other conflicts going on and since 5 has left and other entities have settled in the area, it's become really complex. So since last summer, when 5 and RA started to fight eachother, there has always been some action in the south-east. ___________ 'Only ships can be assembled, this is a Frigate.' |

After reading all of this, I am deffinately going back to an NPC corp. With how poor I am, if I lost my Osprey - I'd only have an ibis. It would be the end of EVE for me.
So until I make cash, money, and ho's - it's back to State War Academy for this carebear.
English only on the forums please, Thank you - Ductoris |

To the Op:
I too waited out to join a PC corp. Even then I tried a few, but didn't really feel I was contributing or benefitting from my envolvement. However, once I joined my present corp, I received a flash of inspiration.
Ominus: one's attitude to fellow eve players can get you a long way. I strongly reccomend that you seek out a PC corp where people will support you and you have a similar outlook on things. The co-operative parts of eve are absolutely the best, you will be amazed at what can be achieved if you work together.
That goes for the post above me too. If you lost that shiney ship in a corp operation, any corp worth their salt will replace it for you. Or, provide you with a decent frig setup and support you whilst you make the money back (i.e, they'll take you ratting even in a frig, or pay you to make instas in you small and agile frig etc etc).
Eve is all about the team work.
Regards Flicky
