I did not play DUST, but this is how I would have made it.
It would be EVE on the ground, not a FPS somehow linked to EVE. The suits would be the same as EVE ships, small, medium, big, giant. There would be giant suits, Titans on land that would require months to build. These would not be able to hit smaller suits. Same mechanics as EVE ships.
There would be corporations that own land on a planet (or more), where they build player owned structures, that they have to defend from other players. Forts, walls, bases, towers, machines, miners, farmers (?), aircraft, etc.
Each planet has different resources and "rats" and "dungeons" or caves or missions - for players to make ISK. Also there would be high-sec, low-sec and null-sec. As above so below. When Dust characters need to move around (themselves and any materials) they should do so using EVE ships that transport them. Or - if they own an entire system, they would have teleporters (?)
I don't know if space ownership should be linked between EVE and DUST, or - a corporation could control the planets, and another the space, with no meaningful interaction. Sometimes, adding stuff to an already good thing does not make it better.
Maybe - there could be bonuses if a corp owns both the space and the planets. Also PI should not work if an enemy corp owns the planets. This is complicated, a decision should be made - to make a single game, or 2 games with limited interaction between them.
Well, that's a game I would play. I'm not interested in shooters, I have Counterstrike for that. Also, CCP - hire me, I have good ideas. |

If you aren't interested in shooters, DUST is not for you. That's why there is EVE.
Why are you so self-centered to believe everything CCP develops should be about you? |

Who did they develop dust for then I am really curious. Let me guess......the console market if so how did they expect to compete especially if it is only release on the PS3 and not Xbox strange......I wonder who was paid off at CCP for this exclusive. Follow the cash. Okay so the console market isnt impressed with this turd then who else should they market for this game if console players hate it? Well there is the average PC player but according to CCP that is not going to happen gtgo. How about the new players who just bought the PS4 well thats an idea but hasnt the PS4 been released already and yet Dust isnt on it okay thats out the window well crap who did they make this game for excatly?

Oh dear RomeStar as a DUST BUNNY I've sat back and watched as you made countless of threads and post spewing your putrid false words and assumptions about DUST514 and how it's a failed game. And then seen people post their thoughts about Dust514 and you again spitefully disagreeing without consideration or hesitation. But enough with my prologue, let me "attack" certain false tales of your post.
CCP being paid off: Simple MS didn't want DUST514 to be on EVE online servers so basically the whole idea of Dust would be "counter productive".
The Community: On the Dust forums you'll find it's very much akin to EVE's you have the nay sayers, trolls, worshipers, the regular guy, and the statistics guy. And if you asked any of them why do they play dust you get "I played EVE and wanted to try it out", "It was free so why not" or " It involves a lot more than just turn and shoot than most FPS" but if you asked why they stay and if they'll return you get a whole bunch of yes(es) and without a doubt me included.
The PS4: Well sadly I agree CCP's laser foused vision on Dust is a bad business plan but yet I would release a game that 65% done on its basic plan to another community but then again there has been threads about former DUST players on the PS4 that wished they could play it on the PS4 and like most of us Dust and Dark Souls 2 is the only thing keeping us on the PS3.
Sincerely a Dust Bunny whose tired of you crap |

Oh the love Thank you for the disccusion. Bottom line Dust could have been great and CCP could have handled this game better but they did not. I played Dust Beta and at first I saw potential then it was released and well you know the end of that story. Butthurt no, I am disappointed in the hype CCP built on this game YES It couldve have been a game changer when it comes to FPS shooters. Great idea poor implementation Lousy game. I was on EVE radio the other night and they were discussing Dust and some good ideas were thrown around including my own which I would love to see. Let us suicide our EVE ships into the planet right in the middle of a Dust Battle. F orbital bombarment that is boring let us wipe out the entire battlefield in one fail swope that is my recomendation.
Inregards to a release on the PC players contantly comment that it will be hacked and or exploited well that argument went out the window if you read the recent article on EN24 about the recent exploit involving recycling characters for the sole purpose of transfering isk to their main. No matter what platform you put it on there will be hacks and exploits so why not port it too the PC? I honestly would give it a 2nd chance if it was and my opinion my actually change. I believe you will get an increas of players if you did port it too the PC, if you dont think so I want some of what your smoking because I am almost out (that reminds me I need papers ty).

Um... you're smoking the best stuff in the thread.
- Allowing you to obliterate the battlefield is abusive for gameplay. Players need a legitimate way to react to things. This demonstrates you know nothing about game design.
- Character recycling is a minor ISK abuse method that doesn't harm other players much. PC FPSes suffer aimbots and wallhacks that render the game unplayable.
- You will not get an increase of players on a PC port. At least nowhere near a number than would make it worth rewriting the entire game again. |

They developed it for people who like shooters.
It`s not on the Xbox because Microsoft didn't let them use Tranquility. It's not that they didn't try to bring it on Xbox.
Also console players don't hate it. I like it. Maybe you should stop with the generalizations. The typical flamers are normal.
Dust will be on the PS4 later. It's not that it'll never get ported, but currently there are way more people who play on a PS3.

Why the hurry? Shouldn't you, being an eve player, be more patient? Eve didn't start out great either.
Quote:let us wipe out the entire battlefield in one fail swope that is my recomendation.
Yeah. Because Dust should be about Eve players and it would be REALLY GREAT if suddenly an Eve ship comes down, kills everybody and Dust players can't do ****. Heck: You could go to the Dust forums with ideas THAT bad.
Quote: I believe you will get an increas of players if you did port it too the PC
Of course you would. You would also get more player if you port it to Mac, or the PS2 or the gameboy. Because obviously more platforms means more players.
But you seem to think that this is easy. A second version would have to be maintained. THen it would need to be crossplay compatible. Then you would need to publish patches at the same date. Different problems could arise on different platforms. That is not cheap.
And seriously: It's been 2 years. Isn't time already to let go? Yes, maybe a PC would be good and nice and I don't know. But CCP decided Dust to be an exclusive and I'm sure they have their reasons. You don't have to agree with these reasons but dammit: It get's boring seeing people crying for a PC release of a game that's been exclusive for consoles for 2 years by now. I don't even see people caring that much about a PC release of Red Dead Redemption anymore. |
