Hey all,
i'm sure this has been discussed at length, but i thought it couldn't hurt to ask. anyway, i'm about to start running lvl 4 missions, and would love to be able to do so on my own. i can fly both gally and amarr ships and i'm assuming that i'll need a BS (seeing as i can't fly elite cruisers yet). My drone, gunnery, and armor tanking skills are all getting pretty good so i figure i'll have to fly a setup/ship based around those strengths. any recommendations are appreciated, however it would be great if you could state a little bit on your reasoning and maybe something about what missions/situations i'll have to be careful of in said ship.

In my experience, a Dominix has great tanking ability and decent dps with its drones.
A Mega has great dps but can't tank nearly as well.
I don't know how a Dominix compares with the other BS's.

Cerberus owns level 4s from what a I hear. A Raven or Caldari Navy Raven are usually the birds of choice for level 4s.
If you have enough skills you might also try a Command ship.

I think a Raven must be better at lvl 4s than a Cercerus - dps matters.

I've tanked almost all the pre RMR missions in a domi.. I havn't run lvl 4s in the domi in ages(have an Ishtar I run them in now), so I don't have the post RMR ones
something like
6medium guns(ya mediums)
cap stuffs
2 lrg rep2s, 3 hardeners, 2 cprs(or 4 hardeners, 1 cpr)
drone horde
slower than dirt...., play with it to your likings

Don't use drone ships for now. Lots of buggs linked to drones and deadspace missions. Generally, Raven and Apoc are the best two choices. I peronsally like Apoc since it uses no ammo and can tank like nothing else. Zealot is my first choice though but you will need very good hac skill and able to use T2 heavy beams. Vagabond is also a good choice with 720mm T2 Artillery cannons.
Once ccp finally fixed drone problems, Domi and Ishtar would be great choices as well. You can still use them for normal space missions now just don't use them in deadspace. Megathron can do lvl 4 too just you have to max out your engineering skills and fitting skills to use it. It is just kind of hard to manage cap usage while tanking. You also will run into ammo problem in long missions. This is why I like lasers. I never use ammo using ships on long missions.

Preference for me goes like this
Eagle, Raven, Megathron.
Eagle is a sweet ship to fly with good skills and a lot more fun than a battleship. Soloed worlds collide lvl 4 in it and it was tooo easy.
I fly the Raven if i,m to chicken to risk my hac 
Mega for sniping missions.

I use a Cerb HAC for all my L4 missions. Much more fun than my Navy Raven. I only have trouble killing one 2mil BS but have no problem with the 5mil Mordus BS.

What setup do you use on that Eagle. I am currently using a Raven with not much trouble but I would like to use a HAC, much more fun.

Currently use
4x Neutron blasters T2
1x Arbalest heavy missle launcher
1x Heavy missle launcher T2
1x Gisti X-type large sheild booster
1x Fleeting webber
1x shield hardener rat specific
1x 10mn ab T2
1x cap recharger T2
1x Mag stab T2
3x pdu T2
Think you can also fit another T2 launcher if you fit a named ab.
So far I think the Eagle is the best ship I have flown by a long way. It does everything I have asked of it with ease and is so versatile up close with blasters or sniping at range with rails it is unbelievable. The thing I like about it most, is it can take out those pesky frig/inties in no time with the blasters and web.
Be getting Cerb soon, hope the hype lives up to the fact

The Apoc is a popular choice too. There's not much it can't tank.
