Some people dont seem to know much about the major alliances so I figured I'd be kind enough to get some basics down for you guys.
Stain alliance Probably the oldest alliance in EvE worthy of the name alliance. Total member count I'm not sure about. I heard around 800, please correct me on this if needed. They claim the Stain area and south of it theirs and will attack you if you are there without permission. Imo the most polite of the closed space alliances, "officialy" they are supposed to ask you to leave before they attack.
CFS Alliance I'm part of this one, we defend Khanid region and unsecure space south of it against pirates. Our goal is to keep the area free and safe for everyone, not just members. Only people we hunt and destroy are recognised piratecorps and individuals with a "meritlist" :) Total membercount 1400-1500 atm.
Venal, New Venal or something alliance They claim space their own and will attack you without warning in Venal space. I dont know much about you guys except you would probably take pride rather than insult if I called you pirates :)
Fountain alliance They also claim space their own, they sell permissions if you want to hunt in "their" space, Fountain region. I believe they toast you first, then explain to your clone why if you dont have permission.
Syndicate Placid Commonwealth I havent talked much with you guys but I got the idea you want to keep Syndicate and Placid free for everyone, another carebear alliance with guns like us then
Please add comments, membercounts or corrections to this if you have been left out, described incorrectly or such, thanks.

I can speak from experience that they have been known to do the same even if you have permission. In my admittedly limited experience they regularly pod players as well.
If their tactics have changed I'll be interested in hearing.

The old Venal Alliance would kill you on sight, without a word even if you are in a unarmed industrial ship looking for a honest trade. I know because I am one of their victims, dunno about the NVA.

I don't know much about them, but one of my corpmates bought a pass to hunt pirates there, I have not heard him complain about being killed for no reason, atleast not by the Fountain Alliance. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

Nice list, though i think it isn't entirely objective (IMO ofcourse)...For example I believe the NVA to be much more 'polite' (as you call it) then stain to guests... Never been shoot by them (without warning that is ;)

It was a good idea
But not that good performed since it was very subjective

Edited by: Andrew Jade on 15/09/2003 17:57:32 Edited by: Andrew Jade on 15/09/2003 17:56:45 go to Morkts defence weekly site to see the list of alliances with members corps. Admitadly out of date, but a good indicator. Says EV has 180 members although we now have 217 link: http://www.fourbelowzero.com/eve/mdwpolitics.htm
There you go for all those interested. hopefully it will be updated soonish.

Yep, very out of date on Venal. For starters most of the pirate corps have left, and those that remain have not been engaging piracy to the best of my knowledge.
As to the defence weekly bit on what was the VA - well, for starters the 'VA' doesn't exist any more and half of them are now forming part of the 'NVA' who are at war with TTi (who was listed as a VA member). I know the author knows better, I guess it just hasn't been updated in a while. :-)
Your biggest worry in Venal right now is to bump into M3G4 members conducting nuisance attacks on the invitation of TTi.

I *think* this is a complete list of regions controlled by player corps and alliances in no particular order):
Stain (Hunting/trading passes available, NO MINING, controlled by Stain alliance) Fountain (Hostile, controlled by Fountain Alliance) Venal (Hunting/trading passes available, NO MINING,controlled by Venal Alliance) FD-MJL (Pod on Sight, controlled by pirates) Pure Blind (Uncertain on controlling parties or visitor permissions, proceed with caution) Khanid (Free access to non-pirates)
Regions that have no recognized controlling organizations, but access may be restricted anyway due to geography:
HQ6Z-L (Can only be accessed by passing through Venal) M-OENA (Can only be accessed by passing through Venal) 2-YXA7 (Can only be accessed by passing through Stain) CT-UQU (Can only be accessed by passing through Stain) RI-6TK (Can only be accessed by passing through Khanid) JK-FIX (Can only be accessed by passing through Khanid) L-4ZFB (Can only be accessed by passing through Khanid)
Regions that can be effectively blockaded by camping the BW-WJ2 system:
8L4-XU (Complete block) 0EAT-H (Complete block) 1W-MRL (Complete block)
Regions that can be effectively blockaded by camping the Egbinger system (You can access each of these regions through other routes, but most other access points are controlled by the above mentioned alliances and in many cases, it is a detour of several real time hours):
8L4-XU 0EAT-H 1W-MRL Scalding Pass Curse Great Wildlands Wicked Creek 0FZ-2H G6T-VQ BT-3QY
Relatively difficult to secure (Not to be mistaken for "safe"):
Aridia Syndicate Outer Ring Solitude Placid Cloud Ring Tribute Veil of the Silent Fade Geminate Immensea K-TAY7

A few words about the NVA. There are only a few systems you will be attacked on site if you are not a member of the NVA, those are 6nj and y-4cfk. And other system is open for trade. We do not allow mining in Venal. Also, when asked your intentions, if you seem shady or aggresive, you will be attacked as well. The reason for this, is that we are at war and will not tolerate sub-corps for tti or their allies operating in Venal, named or un-named. For info on becoming NAP or a member of NVA, contact Jade Constantine. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world |

Edited by: Vacuole on 16/09/2003 02:14:04 Of course, don't forget that the whole concept of "getting a pass" to move-around in some alliance space without threat of attack is a little silly because the very people who pose the greatest risk of introduction to your clone are the very ones who are considered vermin by the alliance in question and, thus, don't recognize passes or any of that nonsense. The PKers, I mean.
Just be careful in busy systems and once you are in the region past the choke-points and out in some system all alone, keep an eye on local chat and you'll be fine.
Never be a chump and actually pay-up for one of those Fountain passes, for example. :)

The Jk-fix region is part of the CFS alliance and is free to travel to by all. Except players that kill or shoot other players ie pirates will be dealt with by the CFS navy.
Hope this helps " Stay Frosty "

Good as far as geographical alliances go...
But there are many other alliances and co-operatives out there that cross geographical and corporate boundaries. -------------------------------------------- Dead

So what I can read from this post is, that CFS are the good guys cleaning out space of pirates, and all the other alliances are more or less pirates just killing everyone entering their systems? Dude, try to be a bit more objective when making a post like this. Thanks

Well is that or is that not what happens? There can be several versions to all sides of views but basically your question sums up exactly what it all is...
