GUI Issue Driving me Nuts

Crag naCron	Posted - 2006.04.08 02:46:00 - [1] I like having tabbed windows and usually keep my wallet, market, evemail, assets and character sheet tabbed in the same window. Yesterday on a mission run I opened a container for a rat I had just killed and happened to have the other window with five tabs open also, and accidentally added the container as a sixth tab. Now whenever I open any container in space it opens as a sixth tab of my "main" window, which I don't want. I've tried opening a container, undocking it from the main window, then emptying it; opening it, untabbing it, closing it, then re-opening it-this works for that same container but the next one after it appears again as a sixth tab. I've closed all five tabs in the main window, and the containers act "nice" and remember their size and position, until I reopen one of the other five, then the container starts appearing as a tab on the main window again. I'd like to be able to keep the main window with five tabs minimized and when I open a container not have it appear as a sixth tab in this main window. Anyone have any suggestions?

Crag naCron	Posted - 2006.04.08 14:17:00 - [5] Thanks for the tips. The reset did not work, it did; however, get rid of my system readout in the top left of the screen that shows me what system I'm in and waypoint info. The aggression counter does show up however.

BennyRay Riddle	Posted - 2006.04.08 14:47:00 - [7] what u do is drag the other windows seperatly away from the container instead of dragging the container away from them. then set up the other windows up how u had them before without the container and everything should work fine

Crag naCron	Posted - 2006.04.08 18:21:00 - [9] Ok, thanks for the further suggestions. I logged out and back in, not immediately but after a few hours. That brought my top left system back. I also closed all windows before logging out, and did another GUI reset before exiting. When I came back in things seemed to be working better and I'm now able to run thing the way I want again. Thanks again for the help.

Spy4Hire	Posted - 2006.04.08 18:52:00 - [12] An annoying habit of cans and other things you open. Try this: Un-pin the window if it's pinned, l-click the problem tab and drag it to another location (just so far as to remove it from the other tabbed windows), release. That should fix the problem. A lot of times it's just the fact that you've put your windows just where you want them and pinned them there. If the tab remains after the can's been emptied try leaving the system (often works for me). If it persists go into your cache folder and delete the 'machonet' folder and re-launch the client.

You think you could do better? well the font is just for starters. How about employing some more GUI ppl for starters. Or devoting some time to player usability they may not know this but to keep players playing the game once they get used to the eye candy requires something like better User interface and corp management tools etc etc. 110k subscribers and we have gone backwards in users online im notiicng a lot more casual players or those that only play a little bit often because of the constant crashes and poor GUI in a lot of areas
