Edited by: Nova Ace on 08/04/2006 09:14:32 first time i start eve online is must see that the game dosnt support anti-aliasing by default. i must first activate this option manual in the game directory. finally i got 2x AA... ok, anyhow, but 2x is not very much/high. i use a radeon x800pro 256MB.
in my opinion that game needs to support mordern graphiccards much more better and use the features of them (like more bump mapping and directx 9 effects, i cant see anymore this ugly, boring planets sry).
eve needs also an better grafik-options menu, with advanced settings to make sure that everyone gets the optimal details. the lod system isnt the perfect way...
i hope u make something in this way and we got a better looking eve :)

ATM Eve uses hardly and GPU. The main bulk of the graphics processing is done by the main processor via DX so that's what slows it down on a lot of lower end PC's. TMK, CCP are addressing this and are hoping to place more of the load on the GPU, thus taking it from the main processor which, in theory, should allow lower end PC's to run the Eve client more effectively.
I would love to see this happen because the graphics in the game are good now but I can imagine what may be achieved by using the true graphics capabilities of modern cards. Explosions that look more realistic, clouds that you can actually fly through instead of seeing way off in the distance and the ability to have environmental effects that may even allow hiding in nebulae due to limited visibility and tracking interferance.

Alas, all they have is:
Quote: Trinity Upgrades Upgrades to our graphics engine, Trinity, with funcitonality such as High Dynamic Range and Self Shadowing.
It seems that they don't want to tell us any more. Maybe preferring not to get the hopes of players up too much since it's still in development.
I really want to see a lot more use of the GPU even if it's just to allow more FPS in the game due to less work for the main processor to handle. Fleet battles would benefit greatly from this since most of the lag is due to heavy loads on the processor to display all the ships.
