I propose a contest to design a new ship. A Frigate, Cruiser, battleship, doesn't matter.
Winner gets: Blueprint of new ship and perhaps an elite version of this new ship. His Character name listed in the information tab of the ship as the designer immortalizing his character in the EvE world FOREVER!
Just thought.
Oh yeah.. and i'm gonna keep suggesting CCP sell some kind of models in real life for the ships until it happens (I would like 1/1000 scale die cast metal please).
I have seen the Arctic Circle... And it is round. |

It's been suggested recently that players contribute to the designs. I like the idea of a competition and would love to see ships created by people who actually play the game instead of only the devs having that honour.
Give the players corp name a mention as well in the credits so it's something to help a smaller or lesser known corp become a recognised name in the Eve community.

It would be cool, but I just want to see some symetical ships. it bugs me that the cormorant has those two different wings and engines.

So funny you bring this up... I have had this discussion in real life with friends who play the game. I like the asymetrical ships. I am fond of Gallante ships in particular. I think the lack of symmetry gives them character. But thats just my opinion. I do like the Merlin. One of my favorites is the Thorax. I hate most of Caldari ships (too angular). I think the Gallante Destroyer is awesome.

My submission would be an Amarr BS...but no idea how to actually draw it...I cant draw what I see in my mind...its a bit of a curse.

Some ships in EVE look stupid, sack the dev! lol Take a Moa for example, looks like some poor animal that has had it's neck impaled on a tree. Anyway, yea great idea!

this an ace idea now paps the caldari can have some nice looking ships maybe they can even desine reskins for the ugly duckling ships like the moa and ospray
fix eves industrial sector!

Same here. There are many ship designs I have in my head but I can't draw worth sh.. and there's no possible way I could use a 3D program to create what I envisage.
I have a sneaking suspicion about some of the existing ships and their design influence. For example the Raven looks like a Klingon Bird of Prey with a broken wing, the Red Dwarf Badger II and not forgetting the 'X wing' shuttle. There are a few others that resemble ships from films and TV as well.
Besides that, I'd want to see the players contributing to the game. They take our ideas on board so why not designs as well. It would be a great gesture from CCP that they feel the players should be involved in the actual design as well as the functionality.

If the winner got a blueprint of the new ship, there would have to be blueprints sold by npc's or the winner would have a complete monopoly on the new ship
Also I think some rules such as "No alien ships!" just so people don't whine when their ship isn't put into the game
Also, could have some categories such as :
*Best design / artwork
*Best new concept
*Best Caldari/gallente/Minmatar/Amarr
*Most balanced

i love the idear. :) and yes it should be themed to one of the races ingame.
and the stats should the CCP do. the bpo shoud be given to the "Designer" and maybe add 10more to the game or so.

thats a good idea about a contest to create a new ship for eve. as for the diecast model, id like mine to be 1/1 scale pls.

I don't think diecast no matter the size would be worth it for ccp to do, but blueprints or ships for characters would work (its a money thing and I mean dollars and cents not isk (and don't get on me about iceland currency I know it is isk too))
