Yes, I am but a week old character....and yes, I've heard being a Bounty Hunter is a TOUGH profession, but hey, that's why I want to do it . I don't see many posts about Bounty Hunters. Want to be in the minority.
I definately need more PvP training and better understanding of my weaponry, enemies weaponry, flying tactics, familiarization with systems, and Pirate tactics before attempting this profession, hence, LOTS more time in game.
I know it'll be a long road before I can effectively attempt this, hopefully, I can get a friend of mine to take to being a Bounty Hunter as well, as I'm sure hunting with a partner would be more effective (1 Running & gunning, the other using electronic warfare on the target I'd imagine). So...any advice to an aspiring Bounty Hunter?
Ship to use? Weaponry (Webbers, Warp disablers, etc.), best systems for it (Would imagine .04 to .00 systems, mainly Warp Gates). Thanks in advance.

Yo,
Bounty Hunting is a sore point and features in many many posts in the Ideas and Developments forum. I suggest you look there for all you need to know. Bounty hunting is not a viable profession yet in Eve although many many people would like to see it. By the time its properly implemented you will likely have some of the skills you will require. So hang in there.

You should subscribe Rells PvP university which you can enroll here.
That will get you some PvP experience but the next class is two weeks away. If you need the ISK I can give you some.

it's not tough in the classic (high risk) sense of the word, but tough in that it requires patience for a relatively small reward. any bounty that's worth claiming will be on a pirate that knows what they're doing, and pirates that know what they're doing won't get into fights unless they want to. getting a fight out of some pirates can be difficult... it's easier when you're a pirate to get fights out of antipirates

Well. Firstly. "Crime and Punishment" forums are more "crime" and less "punishment" really.
Best systems are probably -0.4 and lower. Don't go into 0.0 unless you feel ready and know what you are doing.
I would suggest a heavy use of EWAR modules. Especially racial jammers. Caldari ships are good for this.
Hope that helps a bit.

Profit is what an alt miner can be for, or Rat hunter
Thanks for info though everyone. I realize, as I said in my first post, that it's going to be quite some time beofre I will attempt this. But I WILL be eventually. I'd imagine since their are SO MANY Pirates, that the profit couldn't be that bad if you get to know their habits, routes, etc. Although, kills to repairs ratio could change that lol. We'll see. It'll be fun regardless.

you'll need exactly the same ships/skills as pirates use in order to become a bounty hunter. Follow the guides & ship setups here to get them nailed.
You might even find these pirates you capture are willing to pay sizable fees to keep their implants . . . Or perhaps the sound of a pod exploding into the vacuum of space gets your blood flowing . . . Maybe you'll just be so poor you need to kill an occasional hauler, just to keep you in ships until the next big bounty . . .
As a bounty hunter, you'll find yourself well on your way to becoming a pirate anyway.

Or rather, there is a thin line between piracy and bounty hunting. One you should cross wearing steel toed army boots.

Something I guess you would like to have is good npc standings so that you have atleast 1 agent/region that offers a full region location service that will give away positions of people.
And yes, having a friend or two to help you find the pirate is likely to be usefull. Being a bounty hunter in the way that you search for specific pirates would be interesting, and you could actually start training practicly with just finding the pirates, and then, you could start training on the actual combat vs them.
You can also at the point when you find them, do some research on their ship and setups. You could track them for a few days or so and keep using ship scanners to find out the persons outfit.
I know that we in Daikoku have access to a Pirate Database, where we list information about various pirates, which actually let us see movement patterns on some of them. Something like this would probably be quite handy.
If you would be interested in learning more about this database, I'd suggest you contact "Vaux" in-game to see the status of it. -
